Aldeen Marie Johnson, age 89, of Walker, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Walker Rehab and Health Care Center.  She was born on July 24, 1928 in Grant County, MN the daughter of John and Amanda (Pargman) Watry.

Aldeen grew up on a farm in western Grant County and attended Tintah High School.  She would help out on the farm tending to animals, working in the gardens and in the fields.  Following graduation Aldeen worked at the local restaurant when she met Edwin Johnson.  Ed took work in Washington for the Boeing Corporation and soon after Aldeen moved out to be with him.  The two were united in marriage in May of 1951.    A couple years later Aldeen and Ed moved back to Minnesota and would live in various places like Coon Rapids, Dayton and Big Lake Township where they built a house on the Mississippi.  They were there for fifteen years before moving to Walker.  They lived on top of the hill on 5th street before moving to May Creek in 2011.  The last two months of Aldeen’s life was spent at the Walker Rehab and Health Center. 

Aldeen was an amazing gardener who could make anything grow.  Her vegetable garden was huge and would produce enough food to last all winter long, especially with Aldeen’s knowledge of canning.  Even her house plants would grow like crazy.  She enjoyed crocheting and needle point which produced many beautiful items that the family still enjoy.  Aldeen also liked to bake and the house always had homemade cookies and bars.  She had a love for animals and would take them in if she came across a dog or cat that someone could no longer take care of.  She also wanted a goat, but taking in all the others left her with no room.  Aldeen will be missed by her family and all others that knew her.

The family that Aldeen joins again are her parents; John and Amanda, her husband; Ed, one son; Dennis, brothers; Wilbur and Larry, and one sister; Marion.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are daughters; Joan (Al) Sanford of Walker, Vickie (Paul) Lubbers of Champlain, MN, and Karen Jones of Brooklyn Park, MN, sisters; Elaine Rittenour and Evelyn Spencer,  grandchildren; Ashley (Cody) Turner, Ryan (Kelly McCann) Jones, Jacob Jones, and Marisa (Jarrett) Stockman, great grandchildren; Nate Jones, Connor Turner, Emilia Turner, Abbigail Turner, and Kinley Jones. 

Visitation for Aldeen will be held one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Monday, November 6, 2017 held at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker.  Pastor Matthew McWaters will officiate.  Interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery following the service.
