Alexander Hernandez, 37, “Waabishki-binesi” which means “White Thunderbird” of Cloquet Minnesota and the Eagle Clan began his spiritual journey on April 18, 2017 from his home.  Alex was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 8, 1980 to Rose Beaulieu.

My name is Alex and I have lived at the ORC apartments for nearly 1 year.  I was coming to ORC before I moved into the apartments.  When I was homeless, I would stay in homeless shelter and other places.  I was very grateful to obtain an apartment.  I utilize the ORC services and programs and find it very nice place to be when I don’t want to be alone and I have met good people within. The ORC volunteers and staff have helped me and gave me encouragement when I would go backwards and fall into my old habits. I am thankful and very grateful to have them and to stick by me and not give up on me because it’s given me hope on my long road to recovery, and have some “clean time” right now which could not be possible without the ORC and friends.

Family welcoming him to the spirit world are grandparents; Calvin Beaulieu, Sr. and Alice Blue-Beaulieu, aunties; Arlene Beaulieu-Gurno, Claudia Beaulieu and Joyce Beaulieu and cousin; Bobby Gurno.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his mother; Rose Beaulieu, father; Victor Swan, sons; Jordan Hernandez and Logan Chatterson, sisters; Joanne Elvia, Jalisa Northrup, Mary and Christine Beaulieu, Littlewind Greene and Jolene and Becky Swan, brothers; Glen Enoch, Zowie and Blaine Swan, Chibub and Jimmy Northrup, Godparents; Jim and Lisa Northrup, eight aunties and three uncles, other relatives and many friends.

A wake for Alex will begin at 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 21st and continue until his traditional service at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, April 23rd all being held at the Redby Community Center in Redby, Minnesota. Zac Mittness will be his spiritual advisor. Pallbearers for Alex are Leroy Brown Bull, Jim Northrup, Calvin Beaulieu, Jr., Bill May, Hunter Beaulieu, John Beaulieu, Buck Jourdain and George Stately. His honorary pallbearers are Corey May, Robbie May, Brian Heynen, Tyler Laquinta, Georgianna Beaulieu, Arlene Beaulieu and Isabelle Beaulieu. Interment will be in the Red Lake Cemetery at Red Lake, Minnesota following his Sunday services.

Alex’s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, Minnesota. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.northernpeace.com.
