Baby Maliyah Rose Jackson, age 3 months and 26 days, “Misko Mashkode-Bizhiki Ikwe” which means “Red Buffalo Woman” of Bemidji, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN.  She graced this earth with her presence on July 12, 2017 in Bemidji, MN.  Her parents are Nicole Roy and Kevin Jackson.

Our little angel, you’ve brightened our life, you’ve made us better ourselves, overnight.  You brought us joy on a daily basis, left smiles on our faces, our little rosebud, who had yet to grow.  We’ll never forget you for you are a part of our soul.

Family welcoming Baby Maliyah to the spirit world are her grandparents; Renae Lori Jackson and Leslie Charles Headbird, Sr., aunties; Michelle Sundquist and Olivia Loons, uncles; Bradley and Curtis Headbird and other relatives.

Those saddened by her sudden departure are her parents; Nicole Roy and Kevin Jackson of Bemidji, brothers; Leondre and Kane Jackson, grandparents; Luann Roy and Michael Sundquist, aunties; Alyssa Roy, Amber and Paige Headbird, Dorleen Stone and Larissa Ikola, uncles; Samson, Zachary and Charles Ikola, Thomas Loons, Eugene Sundquist, Ronald Staples, Jr., Shawn Staples, Sr., Gage and Ricky Headbird, Leslie Headbird, Jr., Nicolas and Andrew Staples, many cousins and more family members.

An overnight wake for Baby Maliyah will begin at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017 and continue until her 9:00 a.m., traditional service on Sunday, November 12th all being held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Steve Jackson will be her Spiritual Advisor.  Those laying Maliyah to rest are Jerome Roy and Dan McKenzie.  Her honorary pallbearers are Jay Roy, Blayn Roy, Gordon Jackson and Charlie Jackson.  Interment will be in the Mission Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN following her traditional service.
