Charles Frank Braman, “Manidoo-ininii” which means “Spirit Man”, age 52, of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, Minnesota entered into eternity on January 9, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN with his family by his side.  Charlie was born July 23, 1965 to Marilyn E. Smith and Hubert “Bud” Braman.

Charlie was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN until his middle teens.  He traveled the pow-wow trails for a few years until he settled down in the Leech Lake Reservation area.  Charlie did many jobs that included mechanic work, masonry, carpentry and much more.

Charlie loved his family and enjoyed cookouts, family gatherings and visited his children every chance he had.  He was very humorous and would give his last dollar just to put a smile on your face.  Charlie had very big heart and always tried to help others.  He will be missed by many.

Charlie will be joining his mother; Marilyn Smith, paternal grandparents; Roy and Iva Braman and maternal grandparents; Paul and Margaret Smith and stepson; Jason Cross.

Charlie will be leaving behind his partner of 18 years; Debra Adams of Cass Lake, his children; Amber May of Red Lake, Wabinokwe Braman, Charles Braman and Menwewebines Braman all from Grand Portage, Bryan and Chanelle Braman from Bemidji, Brandy Braman of Cass Lake, stepchildren; Tammy Adams, Christopher Cross, Mary Cross, Joshua Cross, Marie Cross and Michelle Smith, father; Hubert “Bud” Braman, Sr., siblings; Linda Deegan of Minneapolis, Von White of New Mexico, Hubert “Buddy” Braman, Jr. of Walker and 22 grandkids.

A wake for Charlie will begin at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11th and continue until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 all being held at the Mission Community Center in Cass Lake, MN.  Dylan Adams will officiate and traditional drum singing by Dylan Adams and Alden Fairbanks.  Pallbearers for Charlie will be Bryan Adams, Fred Fairbanks, Charles Braman, Jim Harrison, Jr., Ben Braman and Charles Jones.  Alternate pallbearers are Tim Adams, Tom Adams, Dan White and Rogers Davis.  His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.  Interment will be in the Mission Cemetery at Mission, MN following his Saturday morning service.
