Dexter Dean Stillday, 49, “Ogima-bines” which means “Chief Thunderbird” of the Bear Clan and Ponemah, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world from his home on Thursday, November 2, 2017.  He was born to Thomas Jr. and Mary Lou (Thomas) Stillday on October 8, 1968 in Red Lake, MN.

Dexter was a very loving person who always had a smile on his face when talking to or meeting someone.  He was so excited about being a grandpa for the first time of his twin grandbabies Grantt and Gracynn.  Dexter enjoyed fishing and going for long walks, he loved dancing and singing at powwows and going to the casino.  He also like to watch sports on TV, especially the Minnesota Vikings.

Dexter is welcomed to the spirit world by his father, Thomas Stillday, Jr., maternal grandparents; Louis and Jane Whitefeather and paternal grandparents; Thomas Sr. and Lucy Stillday.

Family that he leaves behind are his wife, Vanessa Stillday of Plummer, daughter; Megan (Grantt Greenleaf) Stillday of Ponemah, mother; Mary Lou Stillday of Ponemah, sisters; Elaine (Eric) Armstrong, Karen Natewa and Valerie Stillday all of Ponemah, brothers; Robert (Jerilyn) Natewa and Thomas E. Stillday both of Ponemah, twin grandbabies; Grantt and Gracynn Greenleaf, aunt; Rita Johnson, uncle; Wilbur Stillday, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.

A wake for Dexter will begin at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 5th and continue until his traditional service at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 7th all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Anton Truer and Zac Earley will be his Spiritual Advisors.  Pallbearers for Dexter will be Keith Schoenborn, Jr., Delwyn Schoenborn, Sr., Johnathon Schoenborn, Saunders Stillday, Wayne Johnson, Jr., Jory Natewa and Tyrone Natewa.  His honorary pallbearers are Curtis Johnson, Gary Johnson, Richard “Dahl” Cook, George French, Kelly Iceman, Norman Goggleye, Jay Barrett, James Comegan and all his close friends.  Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN following his traditional service.
