Luis Arturo Garcia Briones, 52, of Walker, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, October 16, 2017 from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Park Rapids, Minnesota.  He was born in Mexico City, Mexico on October 30, 1964 to Francisco and Martha (Briones) Garcia.

Luis was a loving and caring father.  He was very serious and hard working.  He loved reading, history, science and watching nature.  Luis also enjoyed cooking, boxing and joking around.  He loved to make people laugh.  He liked to keep himself busy and was proud to teach his children right from wrong.

Luis was a Para Trooper “Paracaidista” in the Mexican Airforce, Specials Opps Unit.  He was honorably discharged in 1990 as a Sergeant.  Luis made his way to Minnesota in 1991 and to Cass Lake in 1993.  He worked many jobs in the surrounding area.

Luis, Simone and their family moved to walker in 2007 and made it their home town.  He made many friends along the way.  He always told his family that he would come back and make sure that they were always ok.  Family was very important to him and he will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father; Francisco Reyes Garcia, mother; Martha Briones Garcia and numerous other family members and friends.

Those left behind to cherish Luis’ memory are his significant other Simone LeQuire, sons; Tonatiuh Reyes LeQuire Briones, Alejandro M. LeQuire Jr., Bernabe M. LeQuire Jr., Anthony M. LeQuire, Joseph, Duane, and Keith Carmona, daughters; Simone Martha LeQuire Briones, Lillyann Cuevas, Angie Madigan and Gina Carmona, brother; Sergio Garcia Briones, sisters; Sandra Garcia Briones and Marthapatricia Garcia Briones, brother-in-laws; Hartley White, Jr., Brian White Sr. and Duane White, sister-in-laws; Donna White, Peggy White, Linda Morris, Jean Howard, Diana White and Danielle Boyd.

A wake for Luis will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22nd and continue until his 2:00 p.m. service on Monday, October 23rd all being held at the Northern Lights Casino Walker, Minnesota, in the Onigum Room. Reverend Vern Erickson will officiate.
