Monica Rose Salas-Raisch, 14 years young, of Cass Lake, Minnesota began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, January 12, 2018.  She was born in Bemidji, MN on May 2, 2003 to Lila (Raisch) Salas.

Monica loved her makeup which she learned how to do from her auntie Kimberly.  She was a loving young girl who loved everyone.  She loved hanging out with her brothers Joaquin and Thommis.  Monica liked to walk to town with her friends while listening to music, singing and dancing along the way.  When Monica hung out with her girls they would do their nails, laugh, joke, have lots of fun and do TBH videos.  She was known for her great personality and beautiful smile.  Monica loved to play in the rain, especially with Melissa.  When she visited her “partner in crime”, Tyler, they enjoyed messing around with people, play fighting and wrestling, talking all the time, staying out late, getting into mischief and having fun.  Monica loved helping others, writing poems, drawing, taking selfies, taking pictures with her friends and family, photo bombing, spending time with her family and having heart to hearts with her aunties.  Bossy and Flossy…

She is welcomed to the spirit world by her grandmas; Patty Washington and Laura Raisch, grandpas; David Raisch and Charles Raisch, uncles; Jose Washington, David Raisch and Dion Staples, her great grandparents and many other relatives.

Those saddened to see her go are her mom; Lila (Anthony) Salas of Cass Lake, brothers; Thommis and Joaquin Raisch and Justin Richards, Jr., sisters; Kailoni Bemodes, Alisa Thompson and Alaina Richards, aunties; Alicia (Lee) Day, Kimberly (Justin) Raisch, Christine Raisch, Rebecca (Patrick) Lowry, Christyna (Stephen) Foster and Shawna (Adam) Pokonowski, uncles; Raul (Brandy) Washington, David Staples and Daniel Washington, Sr., father figure; Chavez Wind, Sr., partner in crime; Tyler Lowry, numerous cousins and too many friends to mention.

A wake for Monica will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18th and continue until her traditional service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 all being held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Steve Jackson “Waa-maajaa’iwed” will be her Spiritual Advisor.  Those helping to lay Monica to rest are Lee Elk Nation, Justin Barnett, Richard Budreau, Jr., Isaac Raisch, Trent Jones and Terry Jones.  Alternate pallbearers are Tyler Lowry, Raul Washington, Dan Washington and Michael Washington.  Her honorary pallbearers are Lila Salas, Alisa Thompson, Kailoni Bemodes, Alaina Richards, Joaquin Raisch, Thommis Raisch, Valerie Washington, Justin Richards, Jr., Karla Thompson, all her aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and all her close friends.  Interment will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN following her Saturday services.
