Patrick Theodore Smith, of the Bear Clan, age 52, of Cass Lake, MN, began his spiritual journey on Monday, December 25, 2017 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.  He was born on December 29, 1964 in Cass Lake and was the son of Theodore and Alice Mae (Windom) Smith.

Patrick married the love of his life Roberta Jean Williams in 1988 in Minneapolis, MN and made their home in Pennington and Cass Lake.  In his younger years Patrick played many sports.  He enjoyed basketball, football and softball.  He loved to fish and was interested in ricing.  Patrick also did stock car racing at the Bemidji Race Way and even built his own stock car.  He was a very good mechanic and knew his way around cars.  He was a hunter and a trapper and sold many of the furs from his traps. 

Family meant everything to Patrick.  His children and grandchildren were his world.  Patrick was even lucky enough to be able to help care for his twin grandsons.  All his grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

The family that Patrick joins again are his loving wife; Roberta Jean (Williams) Smith, mother and father; Theodore and Alice Smith, brother; Lawrence Dean Windom, sister; Sharon Theodora Smith, uncles; Joseph Windom, Martin Windom, Phillip Smith, Jim “Crow” Smith, George Smith and Buster Smith, aunts; Elizabeth Windom, Maggie Smith, Margaret Smith, Mindy Jones, and Gladys Canne, grandniece; Ce’Liina.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his sons; Joseph (Son) Smith, Christian (Punk) Smith, Patrick (June) Smith Jr., Lionel (Hunny) Smith, Duane (JR) Hislaw Jr. and Bruce (Stub) Hislaw, daughters; Whitney (Doll) Smith, Heather (Big Girl) Hislaw and Bobbi Jo (BJ) Hislaw, sisters; Barbara Smith, Doreen Smith and Nancy (Smith) Hart, grandchildren; Reece, Richard, Jiselle, Blissany, Justice, Frank, Sisika, Isaac, Kohana, Remberta and Trey, grandnieces and nephews; Marcena, Da’Shawn, Chayton, Amariah, Cory, Amarhina, Alijah, Baby Larry and Aiyanna and many family and friends.

A wake for Patrick will begin at 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 1, 2018 and will continue until the 10:00 a.m. service on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.  All will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Steve Jackson will be his Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers for Patrick will be Theodore Morrison, Casey Hart, Terry Demarr, Darrell Cournoyer, Tom Jones, Demascus (Troy) Williams and Grady Q. Larose.  Alternate pallbearers are Cody William and Jordan Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be his close family and friends.  Interment will be held in the Windom family cemetery at Pennington, Minnesota.
