Sharon O'Brien Obituary

Sharon Lee (Perkins) O’Brien, 55 years old, “Gi daa gaa bineshe equay” which means “Spotted Eagle Woman” of the Maang Clan from Minneapolis, Minnesota began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, February 23, 2018 from the University of Minnesota Medical Center with her family and friends by her side.  Sharon was born on December 1, 1962 in Red Lake, MN the daughter of Meryven “Max” and Armella (Perkins) Charwood.

Sharon was the Class Valedictorian of her 8th grade class.  During her high school years, she excelled in academics and sports.  She was seeded 2nd in the State of Utah in Chess.  She had many friends in her honor dorm at the Inter Mountain Inter-Tribal High School.  Sharon graduated from Blackduck High School and the Minneapolis Technical College with an Associates Degree of Science in Business Management.  She was a hard worker all her life.  For more than 21 years, Sharon worked as a transit driver for the handicap.  She loved her clients and developed special friendships with many.  Sharon was an avid pool player.  Who, along with her team, took first place in the International Pool Tournament in Las Vegas.  Sharon was a very loving and caring person who was always willing to help anyone in need.  She had a quick wit and loved to laugh and joke with everyone.  Sharon enjoyed fishing, traveling, pow wows, family time, cookouts, gatherings with her friends and family and spending time at the lake house with her spouse and her pets.

Those welcoming her to the spirit world are her father; Meryven “Max” Charwood, grandparents; William and Margaret Perkins and Walter and Josephine Charwood, brother; Michael, sister; Elizabeth “Betty”, aunts, uncles and a nephew.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her spouse; Kelly, mother; Armella Charwood, daughter; Kimberly (Vincent) Rush, grandson; Corey James Kolar, brothers; Gary Charwood, Sr., Donald Charwood and John Charwood, sister; Maxine Charwood, step-children; Ashley and Agatha, six step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunt, many cousins and friends.

An overnight wake for Sharon will begin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 2nd and continue until her traditional service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3rd all being held at the S. Lake Fire Hall in S. Lake, MN.  Zac Earley will be her Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers for Sharon will be Mason Bryan, Gary Charwood, Jr., Stephen Dow, Marvin Rogers, Derek Washington and Isaac RedDay.  Her honorary pallbearers are the Dow Family, the Perkins Family, the Johns Family, the Johnson Family, the Bryan Family, the Bellanger Family, the Bebeau Family, the Therriault Family, the Charwood Family and all her friends.  Interment will be in the Round Lake Cemetery at S. Lake, MN following her Saturday services.
