Steven Wayne Tooker

Steven Wayne Tooker, age 70, of Walker MN, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on July 13th, 1953, in Mankato, MN the oldest child of Irvin and Shirley (Siemann) Tooker.

Steven attended Springfield High School in Springfield Minnesota and went on to join the Navy in 1970. After Steve’s honorable discharge from service, he eventually moved to South Dakota. In 1980 Steve met two loves of his life, Mary (Murray) and her daughter Robin. Six months later, they were married in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Steve owned many businesses in his lifetime, including Loe’s Resort on Leech Lake. Steve and Mary purchased Loe’s Resort in 1986 and operated it until it closed in 2011. Steve had many skills, talents and passions which all highlighted his top-notch mechanical and carpentry skills. He was accomplished in everything from tying musky fishing lures to constructing harbors on many area lakes. Steve loved his family and would give friends and even strangers he met, the shirt off his back.

Steve is reunited in death with his loving wife, Mary; his mother, Shirley; his brother, Mark; and his grandparents Wayne and Ruth.

Steve leaves behind his father, Irvin; his daughters, Robin (Ed) Wilson, and Danyl (Phil) Peterson siblings; Brian (Karen) Tooker, Kevin (Sheila) Tooker, and Lori (Robert) Soukup; grandchildren, Zachary Tooker, Jordan Godbolt, Mackenzie Tooker, Abbigayl Peterson and Patricia Tooker, Samantha (Robert) McCarty, Trevor (Angelica) Wilson, and Travis Wilson; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Steven will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 16th, 2024.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 15th with a Rosary service at 6:30.  Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service all held at St Agnes Catholic Church in Walker Mn. Father Trevor Peterson will officiate.  Steven’s Honorary Urn Bearers are all his grandchildren. Military Honors will be accorded by Spencer Ross Post #134 Honor Guard.  Inurnment will follow the service in the Akeley Cemetery.
