Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Dean Kingbird, Sr., “Miziwayaanakwad” which means “Clouds All Over the Sky”, age 48, of Red Lake, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.  He was born in Red Lake, MN on July 11, 1971 to Carrie Jean (Tonce) and Myron Kingbird, Sr.

Chuck grew up and attended school in Cass Lake and Bena, MN before attending the Northwest Technical College for electrician training.  He worked various jobs throughout his life, working for the 7 Clans Casino in Thief River Falls and Red Lake, at the Red Lake Chemical Health, Redby Group Home and at the Circle of Life Home Care as a PCA.  Recently, Chuck started taking classes at the Red Lake Nation College.  Chuck loved being with his kids, grandkids and family more than anything in the world.  He loved being able to raise his grandson Brendon Cloud.  He enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, dice, working on his cars, being outdoors and his AC DC music.  Chuck loved his pugs, Baby Girl and Bella.  He will be missed.

Family that welcome Chuck to the spirit world are his wife, Jenni Martin-Kingbird; mother, Carrie Kingbird; mother of his six children, Brenda Jones; sisters, Karen and Cynthia Kingbird; brothers, Arnold Rosebear, Milton and Llewelyn Kingbird, Sr. and several more family members.

He leaves behind his father and stepmother, Myron and Rose Kingbird, Sr. of Ponemah; children, Stephanie (Shaun), Damien Sr., Jared and Mason (Shannon) Jones, Charles Jr. (Miranda) and Brianna Kingbird; siblings, Charlene (Mike Sr.), Myron Jr., and Mitchell Kingbird, step-siblings, Jay (Petie), Kevin (Sharon), Sandra (Kevin M.), Betsy and Miranda (Gary) Rosebear and Lana (Corey) Whitefeather; grandkids, Shaleah Jones, Kaliegha, Carrie, Tyrese, Shaun Jr., Brendon, Angel and Greetings Cloud, Damien Jr., and Brenda Jones, Casper, Jared Jr. and Trivian Jones, and Dezmond Kingbird and his chihuahua Co-co, who will be taken care of by Chuck’s youngest daughter Brianna.

An overnight wake for Chuck will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 22nd and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Saturday, November 23rd all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Zac Earley, and his helpers Kaitlyn Grenier and Ty Stately, will be his Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers for Chuck will be Michael Iceman, Sr., Michael Iceman, Jr., Shaun Cloud, Mitchell Kingbird, Mike Jones, Charles Kingbird, Jr., Derrick Oliver, Melvin Wilson, Robin “Fats” Hanson, Corey Whitefeather, Sr. and Jess Rosebear.  His honorary pallbearers are Lana Whitefeather, Betsy Rosebear, Ashley Oliver-Kingbird, Emerson Kingbird, Kevin Rosebear, Kevin Martin, Gary Martin, Gary Nelson, Jiggs Kingbird, Jeff Kingbird, Doug Kingbird and all his other family and friends.  Interment will be in the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN.
