Christina Marie (Rock) Schwanke

Christina “Tina” (Rock) Schwanke age 79 of Ponsford, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2019 surrounded by her family in her home in Monticello, MN.

Christina was born on April 29, 1940 to Elizabeth (Rock) Bellanger and Joseph Adams, in White Earth, MN.  Tina grew up and attended school in Ponsford where she was raised by her Grandmother Nancy LaRose.  She graduated from Park Rapids High School and from there she moved to St. Paul.  That is where she met Clifford (Butch) Schwanke and they were married September 8, 1962.  Tina worked as a court clerk for the Ramsey County Family court until her retirement.

Tina enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and loved to play darts.  She also loved pow-wows and dancing! But spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, was one of her greatest loves. Tina was a loving caring mother- grandmother- sister and friend, a “Spunky Lady” who loved to have fun!  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Tina was preceded in death by her husband; Clifford Schwanke, son; Ricky Schwanke, mother; Elizabeth Bellanger, father; Joseph Adams, sisters; Katherine Bellanger, Marcy Bellanger, brother; Leonard Bellanger and her grandparents.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter; Colette Schwanke, son; Chad Schwanke, grandchildren; Brittany McKinnon, Breana McKinnon, Zachary Schwanke, and Samuel Letexier, eight great granddaughters, one great grandson, sisters; Roberta Bellanger, Marlene Bellanger, Evelyn Bellanger, Theresa Bellanger, Delores Bellanger, Irene Adams, Geraldine Bellanger, Beverly Bellis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A wake for Christina will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 31st and continue until her 1:00 p.m. service on Saturday, June 1st all being held at the New Pine Point School in Ponsford, MN.  Melvin Goodman will officiate.  Pallbearers for Tina will be Shane Bellanger, Anthony Stewart, Greg Stewart, Leroy Basswood, Rex Robins, Alberto Humberto Adams.  Her honorary pallbearers are Tina’s immediate family.  Interment will be in the St. Theodore’s Catholic Cemetery at Ponsford, MN.
