Clayton Lowmaster Obituary

Clayton “Todd” Lowmaster, age 58, “Minotaagozi” which means “He Who Speaks in a Good Way”, of Duluth, Minnesota and the Eagle Clan journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, November 4th, 2019 from his mother’s home in Duluth, MN. 

Todd was born in Red Lake, MN on April 23rd, 1961 and raised in Bemidji, MN by Genevieve Darlene “Wooda” (Needham) and James Lowmaster, Sr.  During Todd’s younger years, he loved hunting and trapping with his dad, as well as flying all over the US with him and his family.  Todd grew up on hockey skates, playing from the time he was four years old, he played from Mites through college.  He attended Bemidji State University before transferring to the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with a degree in Indian Studies.  He held various jobs in Chicago, Minneapolis, Bemidji and Red Lake after college.  Todd was a firm believer in his faith, always carrying a little white bible with him.  Some of his favorite things to do were traveling, playing Keno at the casino and watching his sports channels; he was a huge fan of both the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.  He also enjoyed helping others in need, as often as he could.  Todd, a free-spirited man, traveled the country meeting and touching the lives of many through his hitch hiking adventures.

Family that Todd is reunited with are his brothers, Keith Lowmaster and James “Jimbo” Lowmaster, Jr.; grandparents, John and Bell Needham and Russell and Mable Lowmaster, six uncles, eight aunties and many more family members.

He leaves behind his parents, Darlene “Wooda” Needham of Duluth and James and Judy Lowmaster of Turtle River; his son, Zaron James Joseph Bohn Lowmaster of Germany, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and too many friends to mention.

A wake for Todd will begin at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9th, 2019 at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, MN.  Traditional services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10th led by Robert DesJarlait and funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 11th officiated by Father Jerry Rogers.  Pallbearers for Todd will be Patrick DesJarlait, Sr., Bob Needham, Robert Needham, Jr., George “Michael” Branchaud, Jr., Chris Branchaud, Tyrell DesJarlait, Miziway-Migizi DesJarlait and Peter “Sniff” Bigboy.  His honorary pallbearers are Gary “Shine” Bigboy, Eugene “Squeak” Bigboy, Ed Bigboy, Aaron Bigboy, Delmer DesJarlait, Hunter Sky Blue, Kevin Cook, Keith Lowmaster, Jr., James Lowmaster, Ron DesJarlait, Miskwa Mukwa DesJarlait, Tyrese DesJarlait, John “Ringo” Needham and Dave Bentley.  Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake, MN following his Monday service.
