Clifford Joseph Moening
Born: October 9, 1945 to Norbert and Elnora Moening in Melrose, Minnesota.
Died: September 26, 2018 at Walker Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Walker, Minnesota.
Cliff graduated from Paynesville High School in 1963. Cliff married Diane Mills in Paynesville, Minnesota on September 11, 1965. Cliff began working for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Paynesville in 1967. In 1979, Cliff was promoted to the Northwest District as a Maintenance Foreman at the Walker, Minnesota Truck Station. Years later, Cliff again was promoted to the Northwest District Supervisor role at the Truck Station in Bemidji, Minnesota, retiring in February of 2007 after 40 years of service with the State of Minnesota.
Cliff was a kind, humble and gentle man, hardworking to a fault. He loved to fish (perch especially), hunt, spend time in the woods cutting firewood and spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a retired member of the Walker Volunteer Fire Department. Cliff loved his home, working in his yard and visiting with his MNDOT Co-Workers and friends.
Cliff is survived by his wife Diane, three children – Tate (Amy) Moening of Welch, Minnesota, Trisha (Dave) Hamm of North St. Paul, Minnesota and Tyler (Rebecca) Moening of Savage, Minnesota, grandchildren, Tanner, Bode, Isaac, Kendall, Mila, and Eva, brother, David “Fritz” Moening of St. Louis Park, Minnesota Sister, Judy (Moening) Larsen (Larry) of Paynesville, Minnesota. Proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, three nephews, a sister in law and various Aunts and Uncles and Cousins. Cliff’s calm demeanor and steady, easygoing presence will be missed by all that have known him.
The arrangements for Cliff’s Celebration of Life were handled by Northern Peace Funeral Home and St. Agnes Catholic Church, both in Walker, Minnesota.
