Colleen Marie Epeneter

Colleen Marie (Casey) Epeneter, age 69, of Backus, Minnesota passed away at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN on Saturday, July 14, 2018 as a result of injuries from a motor vehicle accident.  She was born in Bemidji, MN on October 12, 1948, the daughter of Maurice and Elizabeth (Haugen) Casey.

Colleen grew up and attended school in Walker and graduated from high school in 1966.  She attended college in Rochester and at Bemidji State.  Which is where she met her future husband Paul Epeneter.  Colleen and Paul were married on December 6, 1969.  Colleen then attended the Anoka-Ramsey Community College where she earned her Nursing Degree and worked at Hennepin County Medical Center for 22 years as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2002.  She was an avid reader all her life and loved to travel.  She and Paul loved spending the winter months at their Sun Lakes Arizona home.  She left us too soon and will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.

Colleen is reunited with her parents; Maurice and Elizabeth Casey and a niece; Monica Casey.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband and best friend of 48 years; Paul Epeneter of Backus, sons; Mike Epeneter of Minneapolis and Tim (Cyndi) Epeneter of Dawson, daughter; Brenda Epeneter of Bemidji, brother; Timothy Casey, sister; Maureen Danielson and 2 grandchildren; Mason Epeneter and Miranda Rose.

A Memorial Mass for Colleen will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hackensack, MN.  A one hour visitation will be held prior to services at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Inurnment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery at Bemidji, MN after her Tuesday services.
