Donald Leigh Lussier

Donald Leigh Lussier, “Zhizhoobii’igaade giizhig” (Painted Sky), 33 years old, of Red Lake, Minnesota began his spiritual journey on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Red Lake. MN.  Donnie was born on September 25, 1984 in Red Lake, MN to Tammy Cobenais and Darwin Lussier, Sr.

After high school, Donnie attended Northwest Technical College for Carpentry and graduated in May of 2010.  After college, he worked as a Certified Energy Auditor for the Red Lake Housing Authority.  Donnie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, joking and laughing and just having a good time.  He cherished his time with his daughters that he loved so much.  Donnie also liked playing his guitar, singing and going to the casino to play Keno.  He was always willing to help everyone in anyway that he could.  He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.

Family that Donnie is reunited with are his grandparents; Rose and Albert “Biddy” Lussier, Sr., grandfather; Darrell Cobenais, uncles; Rodney “Hoss” and Donald Cobenais, Byron, Albert Jr., and Vernon Lussier and nephew; Chance Desjarlait.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his mother; Tammy (Chris Schoenborn) Cobenais, father; Darwin Lussier, Sr., daughters; Taleigha Cook, Gemini May-Lussier and Raelynn Lussier, brothers; Darwin Lussier, Jr. and Kory (Roberta) Lussier, sister; Kara (Patrick) Lussier, grandmother; Carol English-Hunt, great grandmother; Phyllis Sumner and several other family members.

A wake for Donnie will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 31st and continue until his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2nd all being held at the Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake, MN.  Father George Ross will officiate.  Pallbearers will be John Morris, Sr., Delwyn English, Sr., Roland Lussier, Jr., Ron Cobenais, Jr., Duane “O.J.” Spears, Jr., Michael May, Sr., Chris Lussier and Al D. English, Sr.  Alternate pallbearers will be Derek Spears, Vernon Morris and Rod Cobenais, Sr.  His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.  Interment will be in the St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery at Red Lake, MN following his Friday services.
