Elaine Grace Bohn Gangelhoff died peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on October 30, 2017.  She was born Feb. 18, 1933 to Rev. Herbert and Madeline Marth in Crosby, MN.

Her family moved to Cass Lake in the late 1930s when her father became pastor at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Elaine graduated from Cass Lake High School in 1951.  She married Jim Bohn in 1951 and they shared their lives until his death in 1995.  They lived for a brief time in Chisholm, MN, otherwise residing in Cass Lake where they raised their 6 children.  Elaine was a stay-at-home mom until 1967 when she went to work as a secretary at the Forest Service where she worked in a variety of positions before her retirement in 1996. 

Elaine loved to cook and bake and was famous for her pies.  She loved blueberry picking, gardening and weeding, deer hunting, traveling and spending time with her families.  She was a wickedly competitive scrabble and cribbage player.   Elaine married Fred Gangelhoff in 1996 and they were snow birds alternating their time between Cass Lake and Ocala, FL.  Their 21 years together included many cruises and other world travel.

Elaine was preceded in death by daughters Nancy and Carol, by her husband, Jim, her parents, sisters Naomi Ness and Gracia Jacobson, brother Don Marth, granddaughter; Elizabeth Burg and son-in-law; Robert Burg.  She is survived by her husband; Fred Gangelhoff, daughters Diane Bohn (Jim Baruth), Brenda Stangel, Sue Hamre (Dave Ross), and son Wayne Bohn, by her brother Luther (Joan) Marth and sister Adeline Richards.  She is survived by stepchildren James (Pam) Gangelhoff, Jeff (Debbie) Gangelhoff, Joel (Joanie) Gangelhoff, Jason (Maddie) Gangelhoff and Ann Marie (Tim) Staub.  Other family that will miss her include Marv and Carol Bohn, Donna and John Johnson, Beatty Bohn, Gary Jacobson, Jane Marth, Del and Kay Gangelhoff, Sharon and Arvin Gieseke, Lillian Howard, Lori Gangelhoff, and Doris Gangelhoff. The combined families that Elaine loved so much include 26 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.  Her memory will be cherished by all.

Services will be held Tues. Nov. 7th at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cass Lake with visitation beginning at 10 AM, funeral at 11 AM with lunch to follow.  Pastor James Sorensen will officiate.  The urnbearer for Elaine will be Wayne Bohn.  Her honorary urnbearers are James Gangelhoff, Jeffrey Gangelhoff, Joel Gangelhoff and Jason Gangelhoff.  Inurnment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN following her services.
