Eugenia "Girlie" Ryan Obituary

Eugenia “Girlie” Mae Ryan, age 72, of Red Lake, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Friday, December 6th, 2019 from the Red Lake IHS Hospital in Red Lake, MN.  She was born in Red Lake, MN on November 20th, 1947, the daughter of Frances (Stately) and Roman Ryan, Sr.

Girlie graduated from Red Lake High School and moved to Minneapolis for a short time.  She returned to Red Lake where she worked for Red Lake HIS Hospital as the lead Dietitian for many years until her retirement.  During that time, she met and married James “Jack” Drumbeater.  Girlie was a devoted mother of three, Roma Ryan-Lussier, James Ryan, and Leanne Pacheco.  She enjoyed many different past times and hobbies.  Girlie liked to watch her favorite shows which included The Price Is Right, The Andy Griffith Show, and the Beverly Hillbillies.  She was a devoted Minnesota Viking’s fan and wouldn’t stop watching the game until the final play was completed.  Girlie came to know her life partner and best friend, Donald “Ducker” Kelly and they were inseparable up until her passing.  She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

Family that welcomes her to the spirit world are her parents, Frances and Roman Ryan, Sr.; sisters, Patsy Maxwell and Marian Ryan-Martin; brothers, Wilbert Maxwell, Roman Jr., Delbert, Leon and Fabian Ryan; grandson, Simon Pacheco and numerous other family members.

She leaves behind her life long partner, Donald “Ducker” Kelly of Red Lake; daughters, Roma Ryan-Lussier and Leanne Pacheco both of Red Lake; son, James (Crystal) Ryan of Ore; sisters, Lucy Bellanger, Rachel (Richard) Schoelkopf and Jane (Herb) Tarnow; grandchildren, Corey Jr., Ethan, Vincent, Kyrie, Romie, Micheal and Ozzy May, Victoria and James Ryan; great grandson, Ethan James May; special nieces, Mary Sams and Heather May; special nephew, Daryl Maxwell; sister-in-law, Judy Ryan; many more nieces and nephews, cousins and several friends.
