Francine May Kingbird

Francine “Bugo” May Kingbird, age 48, of the Kingfisher Clan and Ponemah, Minnesota began her spiritual journey on September 21st, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN at the U of M Medical Center.  She was born on November 1st, 1969 in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Francis Greenleaf and Rosella Kingbird.

Francine loved spending time with her children and her granddaughters.  She was very active in sports during her time at Red Lake High School, graduating in 1988.  Francine liked all sports but she loved playing basketball, football and boxing.  After high school, she played softball with the Red Lake Chipps and enjoyed throwing horseshoes and volleyball.  Francine was a very strong and independent single mother of four beautiful children.  Her kids meant the world to her and everything she did, she did for them.  Francine will be remembered as a happy woman with a laugh that was one of a kind.

She is welcomed to the spirit world by her parents; Rosella Kingbird and Francis Greenleaf, brother; Ronald Bowstring, grandmother; Jane Kingbird and many aunties and uncles.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her children; Leah Perkins, Courtney Kingbird, Jonathon Kingbird and Katherine Johnson all of Ponemah, sisters; Cheryl Bowstring, Roberta (Steve) Bellanger, Maxine Hernandez, Nancy (Melvin) Kingbird and Stephanie (Rico) Kingbird, granddaughters; Sophia Johnson and Amiarah Kingbird, uncle; Lyman Kingbird, special friend; Rob Beaulieu, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A wake for Francine will begin at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 24th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Wednesday, September 26th all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Her Spiritual Advisor will be Zac Earley.  Pallbearers for Francine will be Jonathon W. Kingbird, Steven Perkins, Robin Roy, Sr., Oliver Johnson III, Robert Beaulieu and Arnold Stately.  Alternate pallbearers are Jeff Iceman, Rico Lopez and Jose Portillo.  Her honorary pallbearers are Lisa Stately, Eva Kingbird, Milly Dow, Dell A. Perkins, Lorraine Olson, Roberta Gibbs, Chele Kalstabakken, Billie Jean Perkins and Terri Lynn Neadeau.  Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at the Point in Ponemah, MN.
