James Joseph Dorr

James Joseph Dorr, age 74 of Cass Lake journeyed to the spirit world from the Cass Lake IHS Hospital in Cass Lake, MN on Friday, May 25, 2018.  Jim was born in Cass Lake, MN on March 1, 1944, the son of Christina (Critt) and Jess Dorr.

Jim grew up and was raised in a foster home.  He joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17.  After years in the military, Jim returned to Minneapolis and took a job driving truck.  He enjoyed his work and spending time with his fiancé, Carol White.  After he retired he liked going to the casino to gamble and spending time with family and many friends. 

Jim is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents; Christina and Jess, brother; John Dorr, sister; Evelyn Staples, niece; Stephanie Hatfield, brother-in-law; Roger Hulett, Sr. and many more relatives and friends.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son; Cody (Breann) White of Bemidji, daughters; Regina Nickaboine of Hinkley, Kimberly Windom of Minneapolis and Dora White of Cass Lake, sister; Caroline Hulett of Cass Lake, special granddaughter; Valynncia White, many more grandchildren, two great grandchildren; Zoe and Zacari, several nieces, nephews, other family members and his friends.

An overnight wake for Jim will begin at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29th and continue until his traditional service at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30th, all being held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Steve Jackson will be his Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers for Jim will be Cody White, David Headbird, Ron Hulett, Sr., Donald Hatfield, Charles Headbird, Jr., Bobby Staples, John Mayberry and Joe Thomas.  His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.  Interment will be in the Mission Cemetery at Mission, MN following his Wednesday services.
