Joseph Patrick (Sonny) Raisch

Joseph Patrick Raisch (Sonny), age 67, of Cass Lake Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN.  Sonny was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 17, 1951 to Joseph and Dolores (Fairbanks) Raisch.

In his late teens Sonny joined the Army and was able to travel quite a bit.  He enjoyed all the duty stations that the Army sent him, Germany being one of them.  He was an avid pool player and ricer.  Sonny is remembered for being funny and telling his stories.  He enjoyed road trips and visiting various casinos along the way.  He loved his grandchildren very much.  Sonny was loved by all that knew him and will be truly missed.

Family welcoming Sonny to the spirit world are parents; Joseph and Dolores, brothers; Donald (Booty) Raisch, Maynard Raisch, Sheldon Raisch, brother-in-law; Frank Ortley and nephew; Brian (Guy) Wilson.

He leaves behind his daughters; Jeanette of Cass Lake and Belinda Chosa of Minneapolis and their mother Peggy Chosa of Minneapolis, sisters; Linda Wilson and Joanne Ortley both of Cass Lake, grandchildren; Ary’ana Chosa-Prax of Minneapolis, Jayciana Chosa-Machen of Cass Lake, Saint Cration, Kayne Anderson, Rayne Anderson all of Minneapolis, Mashkode-biizhiikii Aaniimiikii (Jason) Elias of Cass Lake, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Majil Noisy Hawk who was his care taker during his illness.  We are very grateful to her.

A wake for Joseph will begin at ­­­­­­4:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18th and continue until his 12:00 p.m. traditional services on Thursday, December 20th all being held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Allen Hardy will be his Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers are Joe Burris, Curtis Ortley, Vicente Cerda-Romo, Marshall Villebrun, Donovan Villebrun, Matthew Villebrun and Bryant Cooper. Alternate pallbearers will be Jon Weyaus, Joel Ortley, Jimmy Brown, Darian Weyaus, Jared Allen, and Matt Villebrun. Honorary Pallbearers are, Norman Goggleye, Lawrence Barrett, LeRoy “Puff” Whitebird, Faron Jackson, Tim Lindgren and Mike Dorr. Burial will be in the Morgan Cemetery in Cass Lake following his services.
