Larry Alfred Meyer, 75, died peacefully at Hillcrest Assisted Living in Walker, MN on October 22, 2018. He was born on August 9, 1943 to Alfred and Margaret Meyer in Minneapolis, MN. He lived in Akeley, Luverne and Brooklyn Center, MN. He graduated from Osseo High School and attended Northwestern Electronic Institute and the University of Minnesota. He worked for 37 1/2 years as an engineer at Northern Pump/United Defense/FMC/BAE retiring at age 55. He then owned Linwood Resort on Lake Osakis until 2000.
Larry enjoyed all sports including hunting, fishing, camping and golf. He coached softball for his daughters for several years. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Larry is survived by his wife, Beverly, and daughters Shelley (John) Lloyd of Laporte, Sheila Hamilton of Phoenix, and Susan (Michael) Motch of Cincinnati. Grandchildren include Courtney (Kaleb) Martorana and Allison Hamilton of Phoenix, John (Ray), Benjamin and Rebecca Lloyd of Laporte, and Margaret, Siena and MacKenzie of Cincinnati. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra (Wyman) Hintz, of Grasston, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Neil.
A Gathering of Friends and Family for Larry will be held on Thursday, December 27th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, MN with a luncheon to follow at the Walker American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, at Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, www.curealzfund.org or the Walker American Legion, PO Box 186, Walker, MN 56484. Private family inurnment to be held at a later date.
