Larry Reed Peterson, age 66, of Hackensack, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 16, 2018 at his home. Larry was born in Seattle, WA on January 20, 1952 to Elmer and Florence (Eidenschink) Peterson.
Larry was born and lived in Seattle until his parents moved the family to Detroit Lakes, MN in the late 1950’s. In his teenage years, he moved with his family to Brooklyn Park, MN where he finished his schooling. Larry drove truck for various companies throughout his life and was a fishing guide on Mille Lacs Lake for years. He was a self-taught builder, who built all his own homes and cabins, one in each of Brooklyn Park, Hackensack and Missouri. He bought land in Hacksensack in the early 80’s and built a cabin, where he moved to fulltime after the passing of his wife Carol in 2012. The cabin in Hackensack provided the perfect setting for Larry’s love of the outdoors. He was a true sportsman that loved being outdoors, being on the lake, hunting and fly-in fishing trips to Canada with his family. Larry always bragged about his “Raven” black lab bloodlines that he bred. He had the gift of gab and used it to wheel and deal with people and some how he never paid full price for anything. Larry loved being around and spending time with his family but he especially loved spending as much time as he could with his kids and grandkids.
Family that Larry is reunited with are his wife; Carol, brothers; Donald and Ralph and his parents; Elmer and Florence.
Those left here to cherish his memory are his children; Tammy (Rich) Peterson, Mike (Tina) Peterson and Jeff (Jessy) Peterson, grandchildren; Myles, Kenny, JP, Jayla, Cloey, Mackenzie, Jaxson and Hailey, brother; Ray (Diane) and many friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at the Bethel Community Church, 23860 Dewey St. NW, Bethel, MN. A one hour visitation will held prior to services at the church. A second private memorial service will be held at his cabin in Hackensack, MN in June. Details to be announced at a later date. Larry’s cremains will remain with his family.
