Marian Ryan Martin, 78 years old, of the Bear Clan and Red Lake, Minnesota began her spiritual journey from Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Sunday, September 17, 2017.  She was born in Red Lake, MN on November 1, 1938 to Charles and Maggie (RedEagle) Ryan.

Marian was a very caring and generous woman who was always helping her family and friends out.  She loved watching games shows, going to the casino and pow wows, playing bingo and rummage saleing.  Marian enjoyed cooking for family birthdays, holidays and Sunday dinners.  She made some awesome fry bread and biscuits.  She loved all of us and treated all people with respect.  She will be missed by all who loved her.

Family that Marian meets again are her parents; Charles and Maggie Ryan, daughters; Charlene Martin and Donna Prentice, sister; Rose Marie Ryan, brother; Wilbert Maxwell, two grandchildren; Jacob and Charlie, two great grandchildren; Travion and Jordyn, uncle; Clifford RedEagle and a son-in-law; Charles Prentice, Sr.

Those she leaves behind are her husband of 59 years; Charles Martin, Sr. of Red Lake, sons; Charles (Faythe) Martin, Jr., Gerald (Wendy) Martin, William Martin, Myron (Mary) Martin, Shawn (Joyce) Martin all of Red Lake, 26 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, seven foster grandchildren, special grandsons; Jeremy “Sonny” Martin, Jr. and Charles Martin IV, special daughter; Deanna Lussier, her P.C.A.; Berta Benaise, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A wake for Marian will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20,, 2017 at the Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake, MN and continue there until her 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Friday, September 22, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN.  Father Jerry Rogers will officiate.  Pallbearers for Marian are Charles Martin III, Darwin Strong, Mike Lussier, Evan RedEagle, Shawn Martin and Ryan Stately.  Her honorary pallbearers are Gloria Neadeau, Lucy Bellanger, Candace LaGou, Roma Lussier, Rachael Neadeau, Della Prentice, Jane Tarnow, Karen Ramirez, Doyla Lussier, Tammy Lussier, Deanna Lussier, Tori Lussier, Karen Detmers, Robin BegsHisOwn, Gary Long, Daryl Maxwell, Clarence Spears, Bert RedEagle, Al Oakgrove and Josh Lasley.  Inurnment of her ashes will be at the Martin Residence at a later date.
