Maxine Hardy Obituary

Maxine Denise Hardy, “Dibiki-giizis Ikwe” which means “Night Moon Woman”, age 62 of Red Lake, Minnesota began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, January 3rd, 2020 from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.  She was born in Waukegan, IL on April 22nd, 1957 to Elizabeth (Baptiste) Kingbird.

Maxine loved to travel and dancing at powwows.  She loved to spend time with her family and was proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She attended college and vocational school in Idaho.  Maxine worked various jobs at the casino for many years and was a firefighter.  What Maxine loved the most was being friendly to all and meeting new people.  She was the best and everyone she met will always remember her.

She is welcomed to the spirit world by her dad, Louis Kingbird, Sr.; sister, Lucina Oakgrove; grandson, Jacob Kingbird; grandma, Edith Sigana; nephews, Lavan Stillday and Marcus Johnson; nieces, Delma and Stacy Hardy and a special grandson, Davis Rosebear, Sr.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Elizabeth Kingbird of Ponemah; daughters, Nancy and Wambadi Hardy both of Warroad and Shannon (Wilbert) Hardy of Little Rock; brothers, Louis (Roberta) Kingbird, Jr. and Oriole (Vicky) Kingbird; sister, Williamette Hardy; grandchildren, Raven (Rob) Hardy, Owen (Shawn) Anderson, Meredeth Kingbird, Alicia (Justin) Hardy, Kyle Hardy, Lyndsey (Ron) French, Shaliese French, Coby Hardy, Brian Graves, Aaliyah Graves, Tionne Hardy, Iyonna Hardy, Eveangela Maxwell, Blessing Maxwell and Wilbert Maxwell III; 11 (and one on the way) great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many friends.

A wake for Maxine will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Thursday, January 9th all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Allen Hardy will be her Spiritual Advisor.  Pallbearers for Maxine will be Owen Anderson, Meredeth Kingbird, Brian Graves, Kyle Hardy, Coby Hardy, Mathew Morrison, Trevor Kingbird and Andrew French.  Alternate pallbearers are Justin Johnson, Jacob Deserly and Rob May.  Her honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, all her nieces and nephews, Crystal Raincloud, Karen May, Vicky Johnson, Tom Hardy, Faye King, Cameron Hardy, Melody Johnson, Season Means, Salina Johnson, Harlene Hardy, Lorraine Olson, Natasha Kingbird, Benjamin Johnson, Cheryl Linford, Lucille Linford, Cheryl Majors, Tandy Majors, Ilona Jo and Geraldine Williams.  Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN following her Thursday services.
