Patricia Marie Moose

Patricia Marie (Morgan) Moose, age 67, of Bena, Minnesota began her journey to the spirit world on Monday, November 18th, 2019 from her home, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Cass Lake, MN on October 5, 1952 to Josephine (Cloud) and David Morgan, Sr.

Patricia grew up in the Ryan’s Village/Bena area.  She attended elementary school in Bena and high school in Cass Lake, before moving to Minneapolis.  While in Minneapolis, she met the love of her life, Gilbert Moose and they were married in 1970.  Together they had Luvette, Maureen, Merrick and Jacklyn.  The family lived in different locations before settling in Pine City from 1978-1985.  Patricia worked as a CNA while in Pine City.  She and Gilbert moved the family to Bena in 1985, where they built their own home for their growing family.  After moving to Bena, Patricia worked for the BIA, Cass Lake IHS and the Bug School as a cook.  She was instrumental in laying the groundwork for numerous programs for the Leech Lake Reservation and her people, introducing more effective ways of using the resources available.  Patricia took a short-term retirement to raise her grandchildren in 2004.  She went back to work for the tribe and retired in 2010.  Patricia was the family matriarch.  She lived by her life motto of “family first”.  She believed in keeping her family, children and loved ones together at all costs.  It was important to her that she instill the values of always putting family first, never giving up on keeping the family together and always staying humble in her children.  It made Patricia feel good to help others whenever she could.  Patricia was an expert ricer, enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, cooking, watching her game shows and HGTV.  Patricia cherished every moment of the family gatherings, especially around the holidays.

Family that Patricia is reunited with are her parents, Josephine and David Morgan, Sr.; her husband, Gilbert Moose; sister, Karin Morgan; uncle, Harrison Cloud; grandchildren, Bezhigoo Jarbo, Baby White, Baby Drouillard and Baby Moose; sister-in-law, Bonnie Morgan and numerous aunts, uncles and relatives.

Patricia leaves behind her children, Luvette Moose of Bena, Maureen Moose of Cass Lake, Merrick “Son” (Sarah Whitebird) Moose of Bena and Jacklyn “Jackie” Moose of Cass Lake; sisters, Doreen (Ray) Morgan and Dawn Morgan both of Bena; brothers, Clyde (Jan) Morgan, Kerry (Doreen) Morgan and David Morgan, Jr. all of Cass Lake; grandchildren that she raised, Terrance “TJ” Jourdain, Devin May, LaShanna May, Dominic May, Sheela Jourdain, Alysha Brown, Sheldon Brown, Jr., Delano Brown and Deja’Rae Staples; special great grandson, Jordan Jourdain; 27 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many more family members and friends.

Wake services for Patricia will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20th and continue until her 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, November 22nd all to be held at the Dave Morgan Community Center in Bena, MN.  Pallbearers for Patricia are Josh-Wah Morgan, Brandon White, Devin May, Dominic May, Dave Bismarck, Terrance “TJ” Jourdain, Jr., Delano Brown and Sheldon Brown, Jr.  Alternate pallbearers are Dylan Fairbanks, Kyrell Moose and Justin “Gus” Raschke.  Her honorary pallbearers are Doreen Morgan, Dawn Morgan, Clyde Morgan, Kerry Morgan, David Morgan, Sarah Whitebird, Maxine Manypenny, Larissa Kingbird, Louise “Weedy” Masten, Jane Rea, Donald “Wayne” Smith, Robert “Bob” Pritchett and all her other family and friends.  Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery at Bena, MN following her Friday services.
