Richard Cloud Obituary

Richard Frank Cloud, 45, “Makwa” which means “Bear”, of the Bear Clan and Ponemah, Minnesota, began his spiritual journey on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, from his home.  He was born in Red Lake, MN to Norvin and Frances (Whitefeather) Cloud, Sr. on September 11, 1972.

Richard was a well known bass guitarist in the area and played in several bands over the years and is held in high regard by his fellow musicians.  He worked at the Palace Casino and enjoyed all those he worked with.  Richard always had a way of being able to make everyone laugh.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Family that welcome Richard to the spirit world are his parents; Norvin and Frances Cloud, Sr., grandparents; Henry and Maggie Cloud and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Whitefeather, uncles; Bob Whitefeather and Lynas Cloud and many more relatives.

Richard is survived by his long time significant other; Sharyl Washington, step-sons; Justin and David Washington, brothers; Norvin (Kerry) Cloud, Jr. of California and Alexander (Jennifer) Cloud of Bagley, grandson; Anthony Washington, nephew; Andrew Cloud, aunties; Delores, Diane and Barb, uncle; Monte, mother-in-law; Nancy Washington and family, other family members and many friends.

An overnight wake for Richard will begin at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25th and continue until his traditional service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26th all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Steve Jackson – Waa-maajaa’iwed.  Pallbearers for Richard will be Norvin Cloud, Jr., Alex Cloud, Clem May, Mick May, David Washington, Keith Roy and Steve May.  His honorary pallbearers are Ken Roy, Andrew Cloud, Justin Washington, all his musician Friends and all his family.  Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN following his Monday service.
