Robert “Bob” Felix, 80, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018 in Walker, MN.
Robert was born May 24, 1938 in Joliet, IL to Stephen and Helen (Domenic) Felix, of Joliet. He graduated from Joliet Central High School, in 1956 and worked in the printing trades in Joliet for many years. Later, he opened Dog-n-Donut in Coal City, IL.
Later, he moved to Walker, MN and purchased Fisher’s Houseboats, which he ran with his son until 1995. Afterward, he drove a school van for the Walker-Hackensack-Ackley School District until 2014.
Bob loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing. He was an expert mushroom hunter, a skill he learned from his dad, and was a great cook, a skill learned from his mom. He enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends. Bob loved sports and was a devoted Bears, Bulls, White Sox, and Blackhawks fan. He never missed one of his son’s games. Friends recount his storytelling ability and entertained everyone with his funny tales about his life and experiences. In addition, he was a natural artist and loved to sketch and draw.
Bob’s grandchildren meant the world to him, as he meant the world to them.
He is survived by his son, Todd (Theresa) Felix, Walker, MN and daughter, Sandy (Paul) Doran, Joliet, IL; as well as three grandchildren, Elizabeth Conroy, Heather (Zach) Osterberg, and Ryan Felix. One nephew, Steve Johnson also survives.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, Albin “Sonny” Felix and a sister, JoAnne Johnson.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on October 5, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Northern Peace Funeral Home, 114 Tianna Dr., Walker MN, where his care has been entrusted. Online condolences may by placed at northernpeace.com.
