Theodore “Ted” Anthony Graves, Sr. of the Bear Clan and Ponemah journeyed to the spirit world on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from Red Lake, Minnesota.  He was born in Red Lake, MN on November 23, 1970 to Leonard Stately, Sr. and Carol Ann Graves.

Ted grew up with his gramma Grace Graves at the Point.  He went to North Star and Franklin Junior High in Minneapolis.  He then moved to Red Lake.  He received his GED in 1990.  He earned his electrical training from Indian Action.  He then worked for the Red Lake Housing Authority.  He met Flora in March of 1992.  They married on February 11, 2005.  They have been together for 25 years and have 11 children and three grandchildren together.  Ted enjoyed fishing, listening to music, playing his pool game on his phone, spending time with his wife, his children and grandchildren and visiting with his relatives and friends.  Ted will be deeply missed by all.

Ted is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents; Leonard and Carol, an infant son, grandma; Grace Graves, father-in-law; Harlan Gene Kingbird, Sr., brothers, sisters; aunties, uncles and other relatives.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Flora Graves of Ponemah, sons; Theodore Jr., Caleb, Evan, Connor, and Quintin Graves all of Ponemah and Damien Stebe of Bemidji, daughters; Justina, Haley, Julia, Liah and Trinity Graves all of Ponemah and Shaylee Graves of Deer River, brothers; Ty (Diane) Stately and Keith (Jackie) DeFoe both of Redby, sisters; Tina Stately of Battle River, Barb Graves and Diane Roy both of Red Lake and Marlene Stately, grandbabies; Kasper, Jared and Trivin, aunties; Wanda Graves and Thelberta Lussier, cousin; Doreen Wells, sister-in-law; Fleurette Warner, many other family members and friends.

An overnight wake for Ted will begin at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 22nd and continue until his 9:00 a.m. traditional service on Friday, June 23rd all being held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Steve Jackson will be his spiritual advisor.  Pallbearers will be John Graves, Harold Graves, Jr., Kenneth Graves, Gilbert Rosebear, Corey Stately, Rain Stately, Anthony Fasthorse and Nick Rosebear.  Alternate pallbearers are Frank Skinaway, Sr. and Brian Rosebear.  His honorary pallbearers are all his children, Star Kingbird, Debbie Graves, Carol Kingbird, Diane Howard, Landon Kingbird, Bobbie Joe Kingbird, Charlotte Clark, Jake Cloud, Patty Jourdain, Willa Jourdain, John Jourdain, Georgianna Jourdain, Danny Graves and Dan Wells.  Interment will be in the Graves Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah following his Friday service.
