Walter Gerald Secore, Jr.

Walter Gerald Secore, Jr. age 49, of Laporte, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 from a very hard battle with lung cancer at his home in the arms of his loving wife.  He was born on July 5, 1968 in Albany, NY the son of Walter Secore, Sr. and Dora Poutre. 

Walter moved to Minnesota in 1999 and started in construction as a roofer.  He later started the Secore Construction Company and was very proud of his business and the work that he did.  He was very talented at carpentry and construction.  Walter was the type of person who would teach himself how to accomplish new tasks that came his way.  There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t figure out.  He loved spending time with all his grandchildren and he was known as “Papa Bear.”  Walter also enjoyed traveling with all of his family and especially with his wife Rebecca.  Walter and Rebecca decided not to wait for retirement and spent time traveling and going on cruises all over the C aribbean.  Walter was known for being a super thoughtful, generous person who had a sense of humor that would make everyone laugh.  He even shared his humor right up to the time of his passing.  Walter was a good man who took very good care of the love of his life for 17 years, Rebecca.  He will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends.

The family that Walter joins again are his father; Walter, Sr., grandparents; Joseph and Simone Poutre, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Rebecca Secore of Laporte, MN, mother; Dora Klose of Albany, NY, son; Michael (April Rist) Secore of Troy, NY, step daughters; Angie Gukeisen of Fergus Falls, MN., and Amy (Nate) Lebeck of Sartell, MN., siblings in NY; Carrieann Secore, Thomas (Joanne) MacGilfrey, Timothy MacGilfrey, and Dora Lee (Hector) Febus, grandchildren; Devyn Shemon, Bronwyn, Preston, Patton, and Jackson Lebeck, Joshua Maynard, Alexander Secore, and Savannah Secore.  He was also survived by many friends and business associates that were very important to his life.

A visitation for Walter will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 held at the Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker and one hour prior to the service at the church.  A celebration of Walters life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 8, at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker.  Pastor Matt McWaters will officiate. Inurnment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery following the service at the church.
