Ada Jean (Kolkin) Richards

Ada Jean (Kolkin) Richards, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1st, 2024, at Cornerstone Nursing & Rehab Center in Bagley, MN. She was born in Frohn Township on February 12th, 1931, the daughter of Marie “Toots” (Jaycox) and Albert Kolkin.

Ada loved deer hunting, dancing, singing, quilting, embroidering, and lefse making. She was self-taught sewer. Ada was very proud of her children. She was a hardworking, nice, respectful, and fair to everyone kind of person. She worked on the farm near Cass Lake with her late husband. They both worked very hard, and Ada could drive a tractor better than most. Ada was part of the Homemakers Club and Cass County Sherriff’s Posse. She enjoyed reading, watching the “RFD” channel and John Wayne Movies. Ada had the ability to make a delicious meal out of next to nothing, and no one ever left hungry. She baked delicious homemade bread, grew a wonderful vegetable garden, and was a very practical woman. In her later years, she enjoyed Bingo at Cornerstone.

Ada is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marie; husband, Charles Richards, Jr.; sisters, Arvilla Wittner and Elaine Clark; brothers, Irvin, Harold, and Robert “Bob” Kolkin; and her little dog, Dolly.

Ada is survived by daughters, Shirley (Michael) Milli, Janice (David) Ahlgren, Sue (Arthur) Chase; grandchildren, Marshall (Jade) Milli, Andrew (Donnelle Washington) Chase, and William (Taylor) Chase; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Peyton, Cameron, Easton, Bentley, Hazel, and a baby girl on the way.

A graveside burial for Ada will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Farris Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN, with Marshall Milli officiating. A luncheon will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the Farden Township Hall 49702 315th Ave, Cass Lake.
