Alice Johnson Obituary

Alice Jean (Jorgenson) Johnson, age 83, of Laporte MN passed away on January 16, 2026, at her home with her children by her side.

Alice was born in Park Rapids on January 10, 1943, to Marlow Herbert Jorgenson and Dorothy Vey (Warble) Jorgenson. Alice married the love of her life Lyndon on October 4, 1960, at the Gospel Tabernacle on 5th Street in Walker. They were blessed with 3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

In 1976 the couple opened the business Lindy's Plumbing in Benedict. Alice ordered bookkeeping manuals to learn the financial aspect of the business and continued to work until her Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2016. She would continue to accompany Lyndon to the store until July 2022 when Lyndon retired at 83 to become Alice's full-time caregiver.

Following Lyndon's death in April 2023, her children and daughter-in law Shelli, transitioned to a weekly rotation into Alice's home to care for her, and with the help of grandchildren, she remained in the home she loved until her passing. Daughter, Tami left her full-time employment to become Alice's daily caregiver accompanied by a very special companion dog to Alice, "Bella". Bella fast became a caregiver herself by alerting to any attempts by Alice to stand up on her own and hurt herself.

Alice would recall many childhood memories, one of which was the neighborhood softball games, and at the amusement of her grandchildren, she would join in the Johnson family softball games.  Alice loved fishing and would often fish with her children, and her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, an artist, wildlife enthusiast, and talented musician and singer. She played the piano and entertained with her accordion around a fire at many Johnson family camping trips in the Gullies. She also became a member of the Northern Pines Sweet Adelines Chapter in Walker with her sister, Doris, and church choir.

Texas was Alice's home away from home where her and Lyndon vacationed for over 30 years together and took their last trip in 2023. This also became a place to incorporate music, with Lyndon, his brother Larry and their son Tim, playing music in local establishments, and Alice was their biggest fan.  Lyndon began a music session at the log jam cabin in Benedict for local musicians to share their talents. Despite Alice's late-stage Alzheimer’s, she would retain a lasting memory of music. She continued to attend the jam sessions, joined in harmonizing with her son Tim while he played guitar, and sang to the radio.

Alice was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, and we were very blessed to have her. We were able to share quality time alone with her when she needed us the most. Alice continued to ask for Lyndon following his passing. Today, praise be to God, she will be interred with her loving husband, her search is over, and she can rest in peace.

Alice is survived by her son Tim (Shelli) Johnson; daughters Tamara Johnson and Terri White; special nephew Donald (Darcy) Johnson; grandsons Dustin (Amber) Nelson, Chad (Stacey) White, Tyler (Janelle) Johnson; granddaughters Heather (Gus) Forseman, Myha White, Samantha (Nolan) Bixby and Lacy (Cody) Lawrence; great-grandsons Carter Nelson, Joseph Bieloh, Lexington Nelson,  Reid White, Weston Bixby, Lincoln Nelson and Baby Lindy Johnson; great-granddaughters Macy Bixby, Courtney White, Olive Johnson and Layla Forseman; sisters Marie (Rod) Nordberg and Doris (Larry) Johnson.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband Lyndon, parents, Marlow and Dorothy Jorgenson, brother Paul Jorgenson, sister Ruth Anne (Jorgenson) O'Leary, son in law Joel White and infant grandson Nathan Joel White.
