Blaine Deran Martell, Jr.

Blaine Deran Martell, Jr. of the Bear Clan and from Bemidji, Minnesota entered the spirit world on May 28, 2021, at the age of 33.  Blaine was born on December 11, 1987, in Duluth, MN to Carmen Roy and Blaine Martell, Sr.

Blaine was a bright, hilarious, kind and loving being: an energy that was infectious within itself.  Anybody who knew Blaine knows how the room felt when you saw him walk in the door.  No matter what the energy or vibe was like beforehand, it always somehow seemed to get better.  Whether it was a sudden, random movie/TV-show reference, a joke, or even song lyrics, you always come out knowing and hearing things you might not have before.  Blaine made life fun for those he shared his time with.  He was creative, full of ideas, passionate about music, enjoyed gaming, was very adventurous, and loved to go hiking.

Family that welcomes Blaine to the spirit world are his grandmother; Joyce Snowdon, grandfathers; Clifford “Porky” Martell, Sr., Peter Helmin and Charles Edward May, great grandmothers; Agnes Roy and Emma Helmin, aunts; Frankie Gonzales, Darla Sue Beaulieu and Sharlene Martell, uncles; Craig Roy, Sr., Quentin Roy and Gordon “Joe” Roy, special friend; Jairus Wiley, and cousins (angel babies); Aubrianna Hesch and Sharlene Digiovanni.

He leaves behind his one-month-old daughter; Azura Rose Martell, his partner; Kylah Lou Piper, mother and stepfather; Carmen Roy and Russell Smith, Sr., father; Blaine Martell, Sr., brother; Brandon Martell, sisters; LaCadie, Shandell and Tasha Martell, stepbrother; Russell Smith, Jr., uncles; Donovan Sather, Sr., Michael Sather, Clifford and Cory Martell, Jamie and Royce Snowdon, Deran Hill, aunts; Roma Lussier maternal grandmother; Diane Roy.  Blaine was the proud uncle to eight nieces and nephews: Aaliyah Lussier, Ahmya Martell, Cordae Lussier, Aries Martell-Roberts, Arrow Martell, Emma Martell, Roman Lussier and Louella Piper many other relatives and way too many friends to list.

An overnight wake for Blaine will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1st, 2021, and continue until his 4:00 p.m. traditional service all to be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Father George Ross, Chuck Grolla and Jesse Smith will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Aaron Martell, Cory Martell, Jr., Derres Martell, Craig Roy, Jr., Jesse Roy and Donovan Sather, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers are Donovan Sather, Sr., Michael Sather, Deran Hill, Royce Snowdon, Peggy Martell, Cory Martell, Sr., Jamie Snowdon, Roma Lussier, Shauna Martell, Denae Evans, Sherman Martell, Sr., Clifford Martell, Jr., Terri Lynn Neadeau, Audrey Roy, Melba Roy, Shirley Lussier, Jorel Martell, Serene Martell, Shalese Snowdon, Christopher Reopelle, Nolan Sather, Talon Sather, Nick Jones, Sherman Martell, Jr., Jeremy Smith, Joe Martell, Jarred Martell, Garrett Dietman, Schanonn Spears, Jr. Quentin Roy, Jr., Montana Roy, Kohta Martell, Desiree Davis, Winona Martell, Sasha Roy, Sam Roy, Devona Roy, Donald Roy, Gordon Roy and Angell Martell.  Blaine’s cremains will be cherished by his mother.
