Brendon Mark Mankie, “Dude”, age 26, of Milwaukee, formerly of Walker, MN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Milwaukee. Brendon was born on Sunday, November 29, 1998, in Moose Lake, MN the son of Kristi (Bohn) and Jarrod Mankie. The second of two boys, Brendon was a strong natured little boy. He had fire in his veins from the get-go. Independent and strong he grew up in Sandstone, MN and attended East Central Elementary. The irreconcilable differences between his mom and dad brought him to various different places. From Sandstone to East Grand Forks to Eau Claire then to Duluth. While attending school in Duluth one of his teachers was Mike Randolph who at the time was the coach of the Duluth East Greyhounds hockey team. Mike was an outstanding influence on Brendon, someone who he connected with immediately. Brendon took the influence of Mr. Randolph and began to play hockey once he settled in Walker. He was an outstanding goalie for the Walker Ice Wolves, going to state in his second season. He also loved looking and smelling the part. In his late teenage years Brendon was reaching out for an identity, but he muscled through it and retained his GED. Proud of that accomplishment, he marched himself right into the U.S. Army and propelled like no other. In the service he met and married the love of his life Caitlyn Mayrand. The two were young and trying to find their way. Together they made the most beautiful gift in the world, Khilana Rosaleigh Mankie. Though their time together was short, Brendon decided to do what was right, so he moved to be near his little girl in Milwaukee. He took various jobs to keep up with his obligations and visited when he could. He struggled with the big city life but knew that he was there for one golden gift. He missed back home, but his obligation to do what was right kept him there. Brendon loved being with Khi, she shaped him into a different person for the better with a fire of her own. Anyone who was fortunate enough to receive a hug from him knew that he would latch on for what seemed to be an eternity and then sway you back and forth until he was ready to let go. Then he’d look you in the eye to see what difference it made in your life.
The family that Brendon joins again are his grandparents, Mark Bohn; and Sheila (Sletten) and Richard Mankie.
Those he leaves behind are his beautiful daughter; Khilana Rosaleigh Mankie, parents, Kristi Mankie, and Jenelle and Jarrod Mankie, brother Devon Mankie, sisters; Rachel (Maizie) Ortega, Klohie Mankie and Ayla Mankie, grandma’s; Diane Bohn, and Margo Mankie, many aunties and uncles, a ton of cousins and his best friend Archie.
