Byron Dean Sayers, “Bug O Nay Ge Shig” meaning “Hole in the Day”, age 61, unexpectedly journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, April 17, 2023, from his home in Cass Lake, MN. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, on January 9, 1962, the son of Darlene (Monroe) and Arnold Sayers, Sr.
Byron grew up in the Minneapolis area. He enjoyed going to the casino, playing dominoes, cards, cribbage, and pool. He liked to read and draw in his down time. Byron was a big-hearted man who was always teasing and joking. He was a goofball. Byron liked football and baseball; he was a true Minnesota Twins Fan. He enjoyed going for walks or for a drive when he was able to. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those greeting Byron in the spirit world are his parents, Darlene and Arnold Sr.; brothers, Arnold Sayers, Jr. and Dale Sayers; grandma, Sarah Sayers; numerous other relatives and friends.
Those left behind to forever cherish Byron’s memory are his daughter, Andrea Sayers; brothers, Darren Sayers and Raymond Gurneau; sisters, Christina Sayers; close auntie, Mary LaDeaux; close uncles, William “Bill” Butcher and Leon Butcher; numerous other family members and friends.
An overnight wake for Byron will begin on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and continue until his Saturday, April 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m. service, all to be held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN. Father William “Bill” Butcher will officiate. Honorary urn bearers are all Byron’s family and friends. Interment will be in St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency, MN.
