Cheryl Lea (McCloud) Moonen, age 79, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, from the Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in Saint Louis Park, MN. She was born in Chicago, IL, on June 10, 1944, the daughter of Jeraldine (Weber) and Walter McCloud.
Cheryl was a go-getter, she never let anything hold her back. She was a staunch pro-life supporter, who was very active in her church, and loved her church family. Cheryl loved her grandchildren, they truly were her pride and joy, she enjoyed watching each of them in their activities and cheering them all on, as she was their #1 fan. Cheryl was a lady with many talents, she played the piano, guitar, and harmonica, a published author of children’s books, sewing, crafts, making porcelain dolls, woodworking/building model barns and more, and crocheting, she made a lot of her own clothes. Cheryl was a proud breast cancer survivor and loved the color pink. Cheryl loved traveling, especially to Florida in the winter months. She loved family get togethers. Cheryl was hilarious, she had a great sense of humor and could have everyone laughing wherever she went. In her younger years, she was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Cheryl will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Jeraldine and Walter McCloud; aunt, Irene Weber; an infant son, Timothy Moonen; and grandson, David Fischbach.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Gerald Moonen; son, Samuel Moonen; daughters, Jamie Schulz, Jessica (John) Kontzelmann, Emily (Cameron) Weeks, Amanda (Michael) Weeks; brothers, Samuel (Kelly) McCloud, Stephen (Melody) McCloud; sisters, Charline (Michael) Macomber and Jane Smith; grandchildren, Jedidiah, Jerilynn, Eric, Isaak, Hunter, Landon, Emma, Israel, Austin, Isabella, Elijah; and great-grandchildren, Gracie, Maggie, Aaron, Kinsli, and Leighton.
A celebration of life for Cheryl will be Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to, at 11:00 a.m., all to be held at the Cornerstone Church in Walker, MN. Pastor Marcy Braman will officiate. Honorary urn bearers are all Cheryl’s grandchildren, Jedidiah, Jerilynn, Isaak, Hunter, Landon, Emma, Israel, Austin, Isabella, and Elijah. A light lunch will follow the service.
