Codi James Brown

Codi James Brown, “Waabishki-ma’iingan” meaning “White Wolf,” age 28, unexpectedly journeyed to the spirit world on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from IHS E.R. in Cass Lake, MN. He was born October 11, 1996, in Bemidji, MN, the son of Sheila Fineday and Brian Brown, however he was raised by his mom and dad, Karyn and Donald Wind in Cass Lake.

Codi loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He liked to go bough picking, always having fun and joking around, and made friends easily. Codi was always helping his dad, Donald, work on cars. He was willing to help anyone who needed help. Codi was funny, caring, and there if you needed him. He enjoyed walking around in the woods. Codi was always building something or taking something apart. He loved spending time with his family. He had a lot, but most of it was not his. He will be missed even though he pushed everyone’s buttons.

Those greeting Codi in the spirit world are his daughter, Allanna Magney Brown; sister, Leigh Fineday; uncles, John Fineday and Donald “Fudd” Wind, Jr.; great grandmothers, Josephine Rogers and Agnes Fineday; great grandfathers, Robert Fox and Carl Wind; nephew, King Wakonabo; grandparents, Dorothy and John Brown.

Those Codi leaves behind to forever cherish his loving memory are his special parents, Karyn and Donald Wind; parents, Sheila Fineday and Brian Brown; son, Donald John Brown; brother, Ed LaFave; sisters, Melissa (Eli) Raisch, Lisa Fineday-Fisher, Darress Graves, Lisa Shabiash, Lori Northrup; aunts, Darlene Wind, Therese Brown, Anita Fineday; great aunt, Darlene Wind; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

A two-night wake for Codi will begin on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Sunday, June 22, 205, all to be held at the Mission Community Center in Cass Lake, MN. Codi’s Spiritual Advisor is Michael Dahl. Those helping to lay Codi to rest are Eli Raisch, Calob Olson, KJ Farrow, Silas Blue III, Jonathan White, Richard Littlewolf, and Charles Wind. Honorary pallbearers are Therese Brown, Diane Staples, Marilyn Wind, and all of Codi’s Family and Friends. Interment will be in the Porcupine Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN.
