Colleen Frances (Molash) Hess-Mitchell

Colleen Frances Hess-Mitchell, age 65, of Walker, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, August 23rd, 2021, from the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN.  She was born in Park Rapids, MN on Friday, September 30, 1955, to Frances (Garbow) and Francis Molash.

Colleen was an angel.  She put up a courageous battle against cancer.  She was a loving mother grandmother, sister, and a true friend to many.  Colleen enjoyed spending time doing arts and crafts, garage saleing, socializing at the casino and playing Yahtzee with her friends.  Colleen loved her plants and had an awesome green thumb.  She helped everyone who asked, even from her hospital bed she continued to help, even though she was sick.  Colleen adored her boys and loved them fiercely.  Her inner strength was beyond phenomenal.  Colleen was and always will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.  Now she has her halo and wings.

Family that Colleen is reunited with are her parents; Frances and Francis Molash, sisters; Joyce, Lydia, Marilyn, Mary and Harriet, brother; Delbert, niece; DesaRae Mykkanen, nephew; Alex Tinsley, her furry friend, Diego and several other family members.

Colleen leaves behind her sons; Jeremiah Hess and Joshua (Teri) Hess, Sr., sisters, June (Preach) Mykkanen and Lorene Bojanczyk, brothers; Julian (Beverly) Molash and Larry Hardy, grandbabies; Dylan, Joshua Jr., Hailey, Lylah, Skylar, Jordan, Arabella and Jaykon, father of her boys; Jeffrey Hess, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

An overnight wake for Colleen will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27th, 2021, and continue until her 1:00 p.m. funeral service all being held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN.  Pallbearers for Colleen will be Ryan Lewis, Joel Molash, William LaDeaux, Dylan Hess, Joshua Hess, Jr., Dano Wind and Terrance Mitchell.  Her honorary pallbearers are Charles Oothoudt, Justin Patterson, Filmore LaDeaux, Mark Benson, Preach Mykkanen, Jeff Bagley, Jason Krepela and Alton Bebeau.  At Colleen’s request, her ashes will be cared for by her family.

Colleen’s family would like to thank the Leech Lake Tribal Referral, the Leech Lake Health Division, Dr. Timothy Yeh, nurse Marina and all the medical staff who have so graciously given of their time to care for her over the years.
