Collin Lee Howard

Collin Lee Howard, “Bizhiw” which means “Lynx”, 27 years young, of Walker, Minnesota unexpectedly began his journey to the spirit world on Thursday, April 29th, 2021 from Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.  He was born the son of Lorraine Johnson and Vernon Howard, Sr. on September 27th, 1993 in Park Rapids, MN.

Growing up, Collin either had a Nintendo controller, a fishing pole or a basketball in his hands.  He was always making jokes and you could hear his laugh from across the room.  Collin graduated from Cass Lake/Bena High School and went on to complete two semesters at the Leech Lake Tribal College.  He worked for TEP for many years.  Collin loved to help his community, going to powwows, family gatherings and ceremonies. 

Family that Collin is reunited with are his sister; Megan Nevitt, grandmothers; Leona Johnson and Rose Howard and a niece; Anavey Anderson.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his parents; Lorraine Johnson of Walker and Vernon Howard, Sr. of Deer River, sisters; Heather Goggleye of Bemidji, Nancy (Mike) Fitzloff of Orono, Crystal (Rich) Howard of Deer River and Kimberly (Arthur) Howard of Walker, brothers; William Cloud of Hawaii, Vernon Howard, Jr. of St. Cloud and Keith Howard of Bemidji, grandpa; Floyd Johnson, Sr., many other relatives and too many friends to mention.

An overnight wake for Collin will begin at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 5th and continue until his 1:00 p.m. traditional service on Thursday, May 6th all being held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN.  Melvin Goodman and Allen Hardy will be his Spiritual Advisors.  Pallbearers are Vernon Howard, Jr., Keith Howard, AJ Johnson, Justice Humphrey, Rich Felt, Michael Washington, Arthur Anderson, Jage Hunt, Ronald Hunt and Lucas French.  His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.  Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery at Old Agency, MN.
