Cory Louis Hoffman, Sr.

Cory Louis Hoffman, Sr., age 32, “Bimose Mukwah” which means “Walking Bear” of Onigum, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, from the Cass Lake IHS Hospital in Cass Lake, MN.  Cory was born on Thursday, June 17th, 1993, to Danette Bruce and Curtis Hoffman, Jr. in Minneapolis, MN.

Cory loved listening to music, playing dominos, working out and punching the bag.  He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends, going to the casino, and occasionally taking trips with wife and kids.  Cory was starting to explore and learn about his Ojibwe culture, which fascinated him.  But his passion was being with his wife and kids, playing outside, taking them fishing, and wrestling and boxing with his boys.  Cory was thrilled to be a dad to another daughter.  Cory really missed his mom, Bonita.  His memory will live on in those who loved him.

He is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents, Danette Bruce and Curtis Hoffman, Jr.; grandparents, Bonita “Mom” and Daniel Bruce; and auntie, Jeanie Goose.

Those he leaves behind are his wife, Brittany Hoffman, sons, Cory Jr. and Octayvion Hoffman; daughters, Zayleeana Hoffman and Mae White; mom, Carrie Bruce; brothers, Curtis Hoffman III and Dalton Bruce; sisters, Catherine and Danita (Levi Burris) Bruce; uncles, Jeff Sr. and John Goose, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.

The wake for Cory will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19th and continue until his 1:00 p.m. traditional service on Sunday, December 21st all being held at the Mission Community Center in Cass Lake, MN.  His Spiritual Advisors will be Tim and Jon Goodman.  Pallbearers for Cory are Randall Bellcourt, Brandon Littlewolf, Tom Adams, Levi Burris, Steven Kent, and Curtis Hoffman III.  Alternate pallbearers are Jeff Goose, Jr. and James Littlewolf.  Honorary pallbearers are Brittany Hoffman, Cory Hoffman, Jr., Octayvion Hoffman, Zayleeana Hoffman, Mae White, Carrie Bruce, Catherine Bruce, and Danita Bruce.  Cory’s cremains will be cared for by his family.
