Crystal Faye Gutierrez-Dorr

Crystal Faye Gutierrez-Dorr, age 47, “Chibahjiwanikwe” which means “Spirit in the water” of the Makwa Doodem (Bear Clan) and Richfield, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world from her home on Monday, August 9th, 2021. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 23rd, 1974, to Judith Dorr and Lawrence “Hank” Kingbird.

Crystal loved spending time with her family, especially swimming with the kids. She enjoyed beading and specialized in beautiful bead earrings. She enjoyed going for walks, putting puzzles together, going to Pow Wow’s, and eating out at buffets. In south Minneapolis in 2003 she met the love of her life, Magdeleno, and they were married some years later.

Crystal is welcomed to the spirit world by her daughter, Nicoliza Morales-Cruz; grandparents, MaryJane and Benjamin White, Hazel Dorr, and Henry Johnson; and great-grandparents, Maggie and Abraham Smith.

Those Crystal leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Magdeleno Gutierrez-Cardenas; sons, Gustavo Gutierrez-Dorr, Ricardo Gutierrez-Dorr, Nino Dorr, Efren Morales-Cruz, Eulogio Lopez; daughters, Tania Gutierrez-Dorr, Nadine-Nicoliza Gutierrez-Dorr, and Magdalena Gutierrez-Dorr; father, Lawrence “Hank” (Nadine) Kingbird; mother, Judith “Judy” Dorr; brothers, Clinton Smith, Bryan Beaulieu, Brandon Beaulieu; sisters, Lesley Smith-Gomez and Daley Smith; and numerous other family members and friends.

A traditional overnight wake for Crystal will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13th, 2021, and continue until her 10:00 a.m. service on Saturday, August 14th, 2021, all to be held at the Redby Community Center in Redby, MN. Her spiritual leader will be her father, Lawrence “Hank” Kingbird. Pallbearers for Crystal will be Clinton Smith, Clinton Smith, Jr., Jordan Smith, Nino Dorr, Efren Cruz, and Magdeleno Gutierrez-Cardenas. Honorary pallbearers will be Tania Gutierrez-Dorr, Magdalena Gutierrez-Dorr, Nadine-Nicoliza Gutierrez-Dorr, Eulogio Lopez, Gustavo Gutierrez-Dorr, Ricardo Gutierrez-Dorr, Daley Smith, Maria Ramos, and Lesley Smith-Gomez. Interment will be at the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN following her Saturday service.
