Daniel Jerome Gendron, 59, of Walker, Minnesota lost his courageous battle against cancer with his family by his side on Saturday, September 7, 2024. He was born on Friday, June 4th, 1965, in Park Rapids, MN to Millicent (Peck) and Emery Gendron.
Dan grew up with his large family in Laporte and graduated from Laporte High School in 1983. His parents owned Gendron Liquors in Laporte which is currently the Popple Bar. After graduating, he worked for the Berg’s at Cass Lake Lumber for over 9 ½ years. Dan spent the next several years building picnic tables for all the resorts around the community before taking a position with the City of Walker in the Public Works Department. Dan was a devoted member of the Walker Volunteer Fire Department for many years before retiring in 2013.
When Dan wasn’t working, he enjoyed camping, hanging out and socializing with his family and friends. He liked relaxing on the lake and loved to drive his Ranger, which was his pride and joy. But Dan’s favorite thing to do was being around and taking his grandbabies for rides in his Ranger.
Family that Dan is reunited with are his parents, Millicent and Emery Gendron; sister, Sheila; infant sister, Linda; brothers, Patrick and Michael and his beloved dog Sonny.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Ryan (Kimberley) Gendron, Joshua Gendron and Jessica (Zach) Martinson; grandchildren, Kayley, Ryley, Brantley, Chase, Brynlee, Ella and Madi; siblings, Larry (Patricia) Gendron, Peggy (Steve) Oehlke, Rochelle (Craig) Williams, Diana (Corey) Stittsworth, Tom (Jodi) Gendron, and Darlene (Terry) Cyr and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a two-hour visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., all to be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Walker, MN. Pastor Matthew McWaters will officiate. All past and current members of the Walker Volunteer Fire Department will be honorary pallbearers.
Dan’s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.northernpeace.com
