David Leon LaFriniere, age 84, of Mahnomen, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Monday, May 18th, 2026, from the Essentia Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born in White Earth, Minnesota on Wednesday, December 3rd, 1941, to Eulalia (Brisbois) and Wilfred LaFriniere.
David and Judy were united in marriage on December 22nd and were together for 39 years. He drove truck for Mark’s Sand and Gravel for over 30 years. He retired from Mark’s and went to work for Knife River. David decided it was time for him to come home and enjoy life with his wife, his kids and his grandbabies. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved hanging out with his buddies when he was younger. In his more recent years, hanging out at home, watching western movies, and being with his granddaughters Nina, Carmun, Eve, and Febi were his favorite things to do. David had a special gift with animals, he and Judy loved and cared for many wild animals over the years.
Family that David is reuniting with are his sons; Shawn, Rusty, Dino and Randy Paul LaFriniere, infant daughter, parents; Eulalia and Wilfred, sisters; Marge and Josie, and brothers; Putt and Glen.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife; Judy LaFriniere, daughters; Tonya (Dan) Beckman, Maria and Samantha LaFriniere, sons; Dominic and Marty (Kim) LaFriniere, and Cory (McKenzie) Anderson, sisters; Mary (Bucky) Tibbetts, Carol Mathre, Melody LaFriniere, Jenny (John) Uruo, and Carrie Graham, brother; Bert LaFriniere, numerous grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service for David will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Nay-Tah-Waush, MN. A one-hour visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. also being held at the church. Reverend John Cox will officiate. David’s pallbearers are all his grandkids, and his honorary pallbearers are all his work buddies. Inurnment will be at a later date.
