David Joseph Paul-Creel, Jr.

David Joseph Paul-Creel, Jr., age 24, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. David was born on September 30, 1997, in Oceanside, CA the son of Jennifer (Paul) Savage and David Joseph Creel, Sr.

David was an avid hunter and fishman. He loved the great outdoors; he was a sharpshooter and archery champion. He loved the lakes and the ocean, ocean sunsets especially. He enjoyed wakeboarding, knee boarding, unicycling, snowmobiling, and was always up for an adventure. David was a master plumber and loved his job. He was silly, a jokester, and could lighten the mood in any room he walked into. David was kind, caring, respectful, thoughtful, and compassionate in every aspect of life. He was an amazing big brother, loved his entire family more than anything in the world and loved spending time with family and friends. David was an excellent cook; he made the best venison bites! He was always helping someone; he'd give you the shirt off his back, he had a huge heart and was a great listener. David enjoyed listening to music, especially “feel good” music. He had a love for cars and was proud of all his cars. David liked things to be orderly and routine, he did not adapt well to change or go with the flow. David will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

David is preceded in death by his grandpa, OJ Creel; great-grandparents, Helen Spartz, Carroll and Betty Paul; and close friends, Anthony White and Carli Ahlbom.

Those left behind to cherish David’s memory are his mom, Jennifer (Jon) Savage of Longville, MN; dad, David Joseph Creel, Sr.(Heather), of AZ; stepdad, Aaron Helmer of Remer, MN; brother, Samuel Helmer of Longville; sister, Elizabeth Helmer of Longville; grandparents, Terry and Connie Paul of Remer, Brian and Janice Helmer; God parents, Kerry Helmer-Ruyak and Christopher Paul; auntie, Stephanie (Dusty) Roelle; close cousins, Kajsa, Miles, Lucy, Frankie, Brendan, Caitlin, Nathan, and Jessica; great uncle, Rex (Michelle) Paul; numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral services for David will be Thursday, May 12th, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to the start of service, all to be held at Harvest Church of God in Remer, MN. Pastor Jay Pepin will officiate. Those helping to lay David to rest will be Rex Paul, Miles Roelle, Dustin Roelle, Joe Savage, Jr., Frankie Smith, Brody Hart, Patrick Smith, and Nathan Donahue. Honorary pallbearers are Brendan Paul, Ian Paul, Chris Paul, Emily Paul, Lexi Vandecar, Samuel Helmer, Ben Swankler, Skyler Ahblom, and Austin Cash.
