David Lewis Quincy, age 64, journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, from CentraCare Emergency Room in Redwood Falls, MN. He was born on May 27, 1960, in Landstuhl, Germany, the son of Carol (Weeks) and Jack Quincy.
David was a well accomplished man. He loved to cook and grill; barbequing ribs was his thing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very intelligent and supportive man. David worked hard; he dedicated his professional work time serving the Native American Tribes throughout the United States. He was a leader in the Portland Indian community in the 1990's, served on the executive board of the American Indian Associations of Portland, a member of NIVA, Bow & Arrow, sat on cultural awareness committees for the City of Portland and Multnomah County. David founded the original pioneer courthouse square powwow, "500 Years and Still Dancing Powwow". He was a former employee of NARA NW; he went on to lead programs at Tribes in Oregon and the mid-west. David worked at IHS throughout the United States, serving locally for Cass Lake IHS, Bemidji IHS Area office, LL ICWA, White Earth Nation, Turtle Mountain IHS, and St. Paul as a Tribal Liaison, just to name a few. He enjoyed telling jokes and watching Star Trek. Out of all the titles and jobs David had, his favorite was “Grandpa”. David will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those David leaves behind to forever cherish his memory are his wife, Mary; mom, Carol Shepard; son, Frank Parkhurst-Mustache; daughters, Regina Alverado and Pearl Rose (Joe); brothers, William Shepard and Anthony (Deb) Garcia; sisters, Terri Quincy, Kathy (Let) Ayan, Brandi (Lane) Alexander, Gisela (Mike) Patterson-Morris; sister-in-law, Tammy Quincy; special nephew, Bertrum Calvin “B.C.” Lussier, Jr.; special granddaughters, Esperanza Hernandez and Mila Parkhurst; grandchildren, Daniella Parkhurst, Juan, Amondo, and Marisela Alverado, Lourdes Diaz-Barbon, Esmaralda and Jaime Ramos, Jr., Kimmimela, Aaliyah Rose, Joe Willis Frank and Meadow Frank; great-grandchildren, Mary Rose Parkhurst-Jackson, Miles Jr. and Edward Parkhurst-Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A visitation for David will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, all to be held at Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, MN. Those helping to lay David to rest are Charles Lussier, Rodney Lussier, Austin Head, Frank Parkhurst-Mustache, Jack Rohrbach, and Nate Rohrbach. Honorary pallbearers are Gregory Parkhurst, Michael Parkhurst, Earl Lussier, Aaron Lussier, Violet Stately, Cheyenne King, Stacy Lussier, Bertrum “B.C.” Lussier, Jr., Guy King, Sharon Quincy-Cole, Lois Lussier, Gaylord Quincy, Sandra King, Marla, Mariah, Tammy, Myrtle Quincy all of David’s family and friends.
