Dawna Rae Jones

Dawna Rae Jones, 29 years young, of Cass Lake, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Sunday, July 14th, 2019 from Brainerd, MN.  Dawna was born on December 30th, 1989 in Bemidji, MN to Veronica Jones and Robert Brown.

Dawna grew up in Cass Lake, MN and loved to play basketball in her younger years.  She graduated from Cass Lake-Bena High School at the age of 17 and went on to college for one year.  It was then that she had her pride and joy, Kyah Lee.  Her daughter was her world.  Dawna enjoyed hanging out and having good laughs with her friends and family, especially her daughter and Zach.  She was an extremely generous person who always had a smile on her face.  Dawna was such a giving and loving person to all and will forever be loved and missed.  She will always live on in our hearts.

She is welcomed to the spirit world by her mother; Veronica Jones, brothers; Pete, Jesse and Cory Jones, grandma; Rose LaRose, grandpa; Mervel Jones, Sr., aunties; Carol Jones and Sandra Woodward, uncle; Mervel Jones, Jr. and several other relatives.

She leaves behind her daughter; Kyah Oakgrove, her father; Robert Brown of Onigum, significant other; Zach White of the Cass Lake/Mission area, sister; Roxanne (Chris) Jones of Cass Lake, brothers; Dwight (Cassie) Jones of Bemidji, Robert and John Jones both of Cass Lake, friend and father of her daughter; Jeff Oakgrove, many nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.

A wake for Dawna will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18th and continue until her 1:30 p.m. funeral service on Sunday, July 21st all being held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Reverend Richard Cutbank, Sr. will officiate.  Pallbearers for Dawna will be Dwight Jones, Jeff Oakgrove, Zach White, Chris Barrett, Matt Roy and Winter Cloud.  Her honorary pallbearers are Kyah Oakgrove, Roxanne Jones, Jazlyn Jones, Elijah Carrillo, Tonya Jones, Marla LaDuke, Destinee Barrett, Caitlin Roy and all her family and friends.  Interment will be in the Jones-LaRose Family Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN.
