Dick Alan Chastek passed away Nov. 8th 2025 at the age of 72.
Dick was born Nov. 7th, 1953, in Bemidji MN to Elsworth "Bud" & Pernell (Opsahl) Chastek.
Dick grew up in Cass Lake MN, graduated & a few years later met Bev Sullivan where the 2 married. He worked a variety of jobs over the years including truck driving, roofing, cook, and home remodeling. He had a passion for cooking & even did some catering at many local events as well as for all family functions. Instead of retiring Dick still enjoyed working at MD Pawn and Bait store with his very good friends, Matt and Dave. Greeting everyone with a warm smile and "Howdy Partner".
Dick always had a smile on his face & a hug for everyone. He truly brightened a room wherever he went & helped whenever he could.
Dick had many close friends and family he would visit including Randy, Brad, Faith, Kathy, his daughters, & all of his favorite bartenders. He made special time & traveled all over for coffee, to help, or just for a beer after a long hard day.
He especially loved his family. His daughters, ex-wife, grandkids & great grandkids and would tell them all how much he loved them all the time.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Chastidy "Chaz" Chastek (Jeff), ex-wife Bev Chastek, grandkids Devin (Makayla) Heisler, Desirae Heisler, Delayna (Joe) Heisler, great grandkids Carter Weaver-Heisler, & QuinLynn Heisler, & special daughter VernaJean Dawson. His brother Larry, 3 sisters, Nancy, Brenda, & Sheila, & many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bud and Pernell Chastek, his brother Gary "Howdy" Chastek, special daughter Hildi Bogda, special son Mike Pagel, & great grandson Lucas Heisler.
Services for Dick will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Landmark Baptist Church, Cass Lake, MN with burial immediately following the service. There will be a Potluck Luncheon/ Celebration of Life to follow at the Big Tap in Cass Lake, MN
