Dinah Christine (Schaub) Powell

Dinah Christine Powell, age 76, of LaPorte, MN formerly of Anoka, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from the Cuyuna Regional Hospital in Crosby, MN. She was born on July 4, 1947, in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Alberta Rose (Mullaney) and Cyril Schaub.

Dinah retired from Anoka Senior High School. She enjoyed the wildlife up north, feeding her critters and keeping track of the deer. She was very sociable, and a friend to everyone. After her husband’s passing, she kept busy by going out with the Red Hat Ladies. When Dinah was feeling up to it, she was lucky playing in cribbage tournaments at the Legion. She enjoyed running into her friends on “senior day” at the casino. When Dinah was at home, she was busy reading, keeping a spic & span clean house, and “liking” everything on Facebook. Despite her small size, Dinah enjoyed eating good food and going out to eat at Campaneros Restaurant in Dorset, MN. She had some success with gardening and growing tomatoes. She had a love for music, especially if her family was playing for her. Most of all, Dinah will be remembered for the love she shared, and how she enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.

Dinah is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Cyril Schaub; husband, Neil F. Powell; and brother, Greg.

Dinah is survived by her children, Tony, Jody (Tom) Wilson, Neil, Amber (Willie) Bentley; grandchildren, Brandon Powell, Josh (Dara) Powell, Jessie (Tay) Powell, John Wilson, Theresa Wilson, Amanda (John) Kempe, Grace Bentley; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jack Powell, Greta and Darwin Kempe.

A Celebration of Life for Dinah will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, MN. Pastor John Rister will officiate. A luncheon will follow services at the Spencer Ross American Legion Post #134 in Walker. Interment in the Spring will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Anoka, MN.
