Douglas Sacre Obituary

Douglas Donald Sacre, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Walker, MN, on February 20, 2025. He was born to Margaret (Logan) and Harold "Kenneth" Sacre on March 5, 1940, in Minneapolis, MN.

Doug enlisted in the US Army on May 26th, 1958. He married Judy Lee Landborg on June 22, 1968, in Watertown, SD. They raised their family in Blaine, MN and were active in the community where they helped raise money for the construction of the Fogerty Ice Arena in Blaine.
Doug retired from Honeywell in 1994 to the home that he and Judy (with the help of many friends) had built over the years on beautiful Leech Lake. Judy joined Doug in retirement in 2001 where they spent their retirement years enjoying Walker, MN, with their friends and family.

Doug loved hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. In his younger years he took many trips with friends looking for the next big fish, deer, moose, or elk. He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and the VFW. He was particularly proud of American Legion Post 134 where he called home and could occasionally be seen playing the “barrels” and praying to the pull tab gods. He was instrumental in the remodel of the club and solely responsible for the Bar Plate and Wall of Fame. He was always encouraging people to participate in the Wall of Fame or to this day become members of the Post. He was a PROUD member of the Post Honor Guard since 1995. Family was very important to Doug, he enjoyed as much time as he could with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, he NEVER forgot to tell them he loved them.

Doug is proceeded in death by his father, Harold "Kenneth" Sacre; mother, Margaret Sacre; daughters, Annette Dee Dubecky (3/5/1962 to10/26/2014) and Jeanette Kay Sacre (7/29/1963 to 6/29/1994).

Doug is survived by his wife, Judy of 56 years; daughter, Kari (Brian) Tiegs; son, Chad (Cara) Sacre; grandchildren, Bridgette Dubecky, Taylor (Jack) Beckman, Brady (Holly) Tiegs, Makenna Sacre, and Kaelyn Sacre; great-grandchildren, Brinley, Brigham, Quinton, Keegan, Delilah, Johanna, Brooklyn, Corbin, and one on the way.
