Earl "Butch" Robert Headbird, Sr.

Earl “Butch” Robert Headbird, Sr., age 66, of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world from his home on Monday, August 10th, 2020.

Butch was born April 23rd, 1954 in Bagley, MN to Susan Marie (Auginash) and James Scott Headbird, Sr.  He attended Bagley School and graduated in 1972.  After graduation, Butch enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Constellation for three years; earning the National Defense Medal.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching American Pickers, sharing stories with family and friends, and drinking his Bud Light.  Butch’s life was modeled after his favorite song, “Take it Easy” by the Eagles.

Butch is welcomed to the spirit world by his parents, Susan and Scott Headbird, Sr.; brothers, Alfred “Doffy” Headbird and James Scott Headbird, Jr.; and sisters, Norma “JoJo” Johnson and Linda Marie Headbird.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Loren (Esther) Howard, James “Jimmy” Headbird, Scott (Sarah) Headbird, David (Anja) Headbird and Earl Headbird, Jr.; daughter, Deanne (Eugene) Headbird; sisters, Donna Murray, Louise “Weedy” Masten, and Sheryl Wark; grandchildren, Caleb, David Jr., Nakoma, Mileena, Tyrell, Katina and a baby granddaughter on the way; mother of his children, Dolores Fields, numerous other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held at the Mission Community Center on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Allen Hardy will be his Spiritual Advisor.  Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Headbird, David Headbird and Earl Headbird, Jr.  Inurnment will be in Prince of Peace Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN at a later date.
